There was quite a bit of that as well, the mammatus was pushing down quite markedly.

I'd say that is stratocumulus cloud as weak convection hits an inversion and flaterns out.

Bit of a close one earlier, the lightning was quite infrequent but did shoot orange sparks from a telephone pole out of shot on the left about 20 feet away. The surge must of travelled down the cable from the strike on the right side of the frame.

Luckily I was sheltering from the rain, 10 mins earlier I was outside the car with tripod setup.

Wow

Thunderstorm risk again today with tops being a little higher than yesterday but still limited. Upper vorticity and cooler air increases mid level lapse rates making the atmosphere weakly unstable. Low surface temperatures somewhat limit instability but breaks in the cloud late afternoon could easily spark up a storm.

Limited depth low should give slack winds over much of the UK leading to low level wind convergence areas which could spark convection.  Backed low level winds and cooling upper layers late afternoon could lead to spout type weak tornadoes in East Anglia with Lincolnshire and Norfolk being areas of interest.  Area of interest possibly stretching to East Yorkshire and London as well.

Satellite imagery suggests some cloudiness might be late to clear and surface low might be a little late traversing the UK so exact timing and positioning will be subject to change.

We have thunder & suggestion of lightning behind the clouds, here on the Yorkshire Wolds. There was one single rumble of thunder about an hour ago & I thought I was mistaken, then nothing. Now the storm has arrived along with steady rain and consistent thunder. Don’t think there’s much chance of catching the lightning though

Heard a rumble of thunder shortly before 1am and had a thunderstorm soon before 4am this morning.

Absolutely thrown it down a couple of times in Cambridge today. Big cells forming from the unstable cold upper air and surface heating.

These storms are approaching a more favourable atmosphere as they move Eastwards and the focus remains on Northants and Bedford were I believe they will be chucking down Bolts.

Just had a right deluge, with some light/grey hues on the radar. Sadly no thunder from it.

Just heard a single rumble from nearby shower, technically making it my second storm of the year.

The time-lapse shows an almost whale's mouth feature to the left, with the heavy precip core to the right.

First rumble of thunder from a cell to the SW of Lincoln, making it thunder-day number 2 for 2022.
