Heathrow already almost 3c warmer today than at this time yesterday (which had a high of 31.6c). Maybe a 33-34c is reachable today after all?

Feels like the hottest day so far this year, and it feels like I am breathing through soup too. Feel sorry for those with breathing difficulties as I even I am finding it hard.

Ticked over 30c here. Might see a 31c later, but I think the peak temps look reserved for the weekend where somewhere will probably see 33c.

Where are you getting these readings from btw?

We are a microclimate here. Like in Winter the temperature is usually 2c less than predicted.

If it were July then surely we could be reaching mid to upper 30s with these sort of high morning temperatures.

However today's forecast high is only about 31°C!

I was thinking this! Lucky save phew!

Sun has been breaking through since about 11am but this high/mid level cloud is extremely slow to shift. There were a few spots of rain first thing but they have moved off north now.

For some reason I've noticed these long lines of hazy murk have a nasty habit of showing up during hot spells here, and they keep forming in the same place- between about 2° and 4° West, from the Bay of Biscay in a straight line up to NW England and SW Scotland. Straight over here or very nearby, whilst eastern Britain and sometimes west of there too is clear. 1st July 2015 was a terrible case when it refused to shift all day and blocked the sun totally. Hopefully it disappears tonight!

Looks like today the warmth has bumped up a notch, the high cloud has stayed a little further west than expected so it's been mostly sunny since mid morning.

Currently 29C and a dp of 19C, as high as before the storms in June so it is humid. About as hot as this time 2 years ago as well.

More high cloud tomorrow so maybe a degree or 2 cooler, before Saturday likely being the peak of the heat, but the risk of t-storms starts to increase.

Enjoy or survive the heat everyone 👍🌞

Light grey skies and humid here in Exeter, hopefully it’ll break up to allow for some sun at some point
