If we are seeing EWRC then there WILL be further intensification once complete & Cat 5 is not out of the Question (IMHO?)

No, there will not be enough time for the core to consolidate and retighten back up, however the existing wind field will get pushed outward.

Just back down to a Cat 3 as it makes landfall, due to the EWRC taking place.

A built has been dodged due to the timing of that. Would have been much stronger, but still going be bad re strong winds and storm surge.

Really no difference between a strong Cat 3 and weak Cat 4 tbh

True but without the EWRC we'd probably be looking at strong Cat 4, maybe even Cat 5. This is what happened with Charley and Michael, which were able to strengthen all the way up to landfall.

Most damage from hurricanes in Florida comes from the flooding (with a few exceptions.) The big concern here is the storm surge in in apalachee bay which doesn’t have a recorded historical precedent. My understanding is that the area is quite rural which might lessen human impacts in that regards.

The last 15 minutes of this looks quite bad.

My first ever shot at an eye landfall Forecast I'm extremely chuffed with this especially at 2 plus days out as Idalia was yet to develop

I disagree. As wind speed increase the force on buildings and objects increases by three times. So it's exponential. Even a 25mph increase means it can be nearly 75% more force being applied against buildings etc.

Additionally as wind speed increases suction on the leeward side of structures increases, so you can get sides of buildings pulled out if they are not up to hurricane standard.

What may stand up to a Cat 3, may not in even a weak Cat 4.

It seems Idalia is coming towards Franklin with the remnants of Gert and a newly formed storm of Jose are getting close to each other. Don't know if there is going to be a Fujiwhara Effect between any of those storms?
