Under that conveyor belt (but outside the met warning) for the last 5 hours with no sign of a let up. Rain varying from heavy/ near torrential.  No idea of totals, but my road which is a main access is like a river and will possibly be impassable in the next couple of hours if there's no let up.

I've noticed that it seems to be producing an intense band that's drifting east now. It's been raining here constantly. But looks like its going to get torrential within the next hour to hour and a half. I'm wondering if this has proven to be a bit larger than predicted. Definitely affecting areas west of the warning zone and is only going to verge even more into it.

Crack of thunder here just now as some small but potent showers pass through.

I believe that it came from this cell which is now just to the N of Brum travelling of to the NE

A brief lull in the showers here. When they come along they are torrential and causing local flooding problems around swansea today. No thunder however.

It actually produced about 4 quite loud cracks of thunder in the end before it moved away. Makes a nice change getting the best out of  it here BEFORE it moves off northeast!

It's looking dark towards Stoke-on-Trent from here and might get clipped in the next hour by the cell that's now electrified, Winking Man webcam near Leek should be the one to watch soon.

The usual case of showers having more chance of electrical activity the further inland you are. 😀

I think the showers start to track more west to east in the next few hours, my thinking Is this should bring more coastal areas into play, the sun might not have enough strength by then though.

I'm hoping for some showers to form over the sea this evening, should make for some interesting skies

Pretty sure, looking at the radar, these are the active cells around Stoke

Anyone know why the radar stopped showing precip type?

Another month and it will be the reverse as the sea generates convection, weakening as it moves inland.

I think that'll be it for here. Just one shower. We'll be in that large gap now.

I finally got a storm, pea-sized hail and intense rain (luckily only lasted five minutes as already some big puddles!), not much lightning but still better than I'd hoped for! 🙂

The cell towards Stoke fizzled out long before it got here, it seems that 'popcorn showers' is the trend for today with sporadic strikes during the early development phase. Not the best for chasing or getting too excited about unless your fortunate to be in the right place / right time.
