I think that'll be it for here. Just one shower. We'll be in that large gap now.

We are indeed, it seems I've been led up the garden path again by the UKv, it's not the first time that's happened this year 🤣

Looking rather ominous as another clump of showers arrives from the south west.

Looks quite pronounced watching it from the third floor of a uni building.

Not much action here today other than a torrential downpour around mid day no thunder heard though even though lightning was detected to the west of Birmingham. As for now a amall heavy shower approaching Telford is giving a nice anvil.

Just come back from a quick walk and there is a huge, beautiful CB to my west-ish direction giving sporadic lightning but too distant for audible thunder. The only thing I can see on radar is over London. If that is the same cell.. those cloud tops are HUGE

Absolutely...although storms is what most of us want i always love convective weather with or without the thunder as you get the most beautiful and interesting skies with it..i have never lost that delight of watching convective skies since i was a kid ( few years ago..🤣) ...in fact i love it even more now if that is possible...lovely pics on this thread this evening ...

One of the most photogenic storms of recent times tracked across East London around 7 tonight. I was just south of the river so had a great view and stayed dry! Dropping a tonne of cloud to ground strikes and amazing cloud structure.  Given it’s location I’m surprised more havnt been on here to report it. Unexpected!

I would agree with that. Definitely a photogenic storm. Haven't seen a cloud base quite like that for a long time. And those dark clouds were ominous.

A few sparks in the Severn Estuary now. Nocturnal cooling and warm SSTs playing their part perhaps.
