It was an interesting morning, to say the least.

Thank you GSP, look at these next two, this huge slab of stone was torn off the seat by the sea wall about 20ft away. Incredible power

Very interesting. Absolutely no expert but non toenailed nails ripped out the ground. Plus other photos, this looks like a level 6/7 kind of damage indicator (corresponds with the T scale but shift downwards one, E. G. T5/6 damage indicator) with some exterior walls close to collapsed . So high end EF2 up to mid end EF3 damage. Suspect it'll end up high end EF2 as I don't think contextual damage is enough but possibly if someone knows more about the engineering of nails more than me and foundations of these particular houses then it could be EF3 level. I'm pretty sure the strongest since 2006?

Similar tornado at a similar time, last year in Northern France but slightly stronger damage. Got a T6, so I think this one will get a T5.

I would imagine US tornado damage indicators and the Torro system are very similar in their damage indicators.

Fantastic photos and a stark reminder of how the weather can be so powerful .

The wind is making a racquet every so often still , even more than last night.  It was extremely wet here last night , but now gusts are still gusting .

The models I think performed very well with the track of the low and development and implications.  Probably 8 out of 10 ☺

France getting more worried about extensive flood risk. Another storm hits Spain tommorow.

We must not only monitor the violent winds but also the very heavy accumulations of rain between now and Saturday in places which risk causing flooding, with soils which are now saturated with water on the surface. Large amounts of rain expected: - in northern Hauts de France in connection with the occlusion of #Ciaran which will circulate from tomorrow morning to Friday morning. A few more mm then Friday under the trailing sky. This will inevitably overflow into areas which have already had flooding near the Côte d'Opale. - on Landes and Pyrénées Atlantiques by blocking effect from tomorrow until Friday evening. Passage of an occluded front Friday morning and secondary lines before and after. We could reach close to 200 mm. Flooding to be expected and river levels to monitor. - on the west of the Massif Central in particular tomorrow afternoon behind the cold front under showers which will often take on a continuous nature. The watercourses below may overflow a little. - over Alps and east PACA under the cold front tomorrow afternoon with a possible stormy character. Certain areas to watch out for near Mercantour with possible landslides in particular. Possibly some localized overflows. - on Corsican reliefs exposed to Libecciu with continuous orographic forcing giving regular rains. Passage of the cold front tomorrow evening with possible storminess. Accumulations of more than 150 mm possible at altitude.

I expect we’ll see this loon for many years to come in various extreme weather programmes.

It's amazing what the sea can shift. I've seen some of sea defences at Hornsea removed by the sea over the years. Not much left by now.

So had a yellow warning for wind. That wasn’t too bad for us. No yellow warning of rain and flooding.

I however do not envy some of the scenes seen in other places though. We had it light.

To get large hail like that outside the summer season must be almost unprecedented. AFAIK every large hail event I've heard of has occurred during, or at the breakdown of, hot weather in the summer months.

I'm just glad the worst winds of this storm kept south of us here.
