Looking somewhat underwhelming thus far this squall.

Wondering if the trough engagement with the cold front is what we’re about to see over Brest and then propagate north-eastwards through the evening.

Torro Mentioned this - "However, as the aforementioned upper trough approaches, falling heights aloft will encourage the lower level flow to back into the south, causing the frontal system to stall, ahead of a shallow wave. The front will also tend to become less active for a time.”

On radar it is completely stalled and won’t really strengthen till 9/10 PM but in the meantime flooding could really be likely where it stalls.

The stuff currently in the channel and France is the stuff that is of interest right now.

It's been a while! Hope everyone had a great Christmas and has a great New Year too!

Things looking pretty interesting for tonight! Definitely something to watch, but I'm not getting myself too hyped up in case of a massive letdown. Tornado risks are looking interesting too. Good luck to everyone tonight. 🙂

Just seen someone on twitter talking about possible tornado reports near Martinstown in Dorset, has anyone on here heard or seen anything?

No, I did not? Because I am not really into Twitter. I am more focused on the squall line. This was at 9:10 PM, and it seems it is now over Salisbury. I could be impacted by 11PM or 12AM.

It shredded at just the wrong time for us, a bit windy, but nowhere near as bad as earlier in the week.

Wind shear shown in a fair few areas on the rainfall radar, but this near to Newark seems suspicious - wouldn't be surprised to hear some wind damage, been quite a persistent feature if you look back.

Is it trying to form a tornado there?

Not necessarily, but I'm not really an expert in squalls and funnels etc.

Could I call that a bow echo. Isn’t that when strong winds are behind it and it bows to look like that. Also that does look quite severe

Not really. If anything, I’m pretty sure that might lower the chance of a tornado but I’m no expert in this field either

Lightning east of the IOW just now. Probably not far from where that waterspout was not long ago.

You can actually see where the broken line segment curves exactly where that waterspout was spotted, off the NE of the Isle of white.

So we got a QLCS Tornado formed in the NE of the Isle of White? Also, the line has now started to enter where I lived according to the radar.
