Blowing a hoolie and tipping it down tonight, a precursor for tomorrow night?

Local forecast says yellow warning click on the link and it says it amber. The met office is so poor in it's presentation of it's data at times. It's not rocket size to update the website.

Just had a 57mph gust. Its a southerly wind though and we're not too exposed in that direction.

It may be a very windy day out but the rain has already caused some localised flooding on the roads around Ripon and Dishforth.

Winds easing here now may increase a little when the wind gets more westerly later in the night.

Elec went off at 20.50, can just get 4g in the kitchen lol, overhead power lines on the Wolds are always susceptible to this kind of storm, oh well fed and watered with log burner lit, so just gotta sit it out 👍

2 power lines are laid on the floor at the top of the village in a farmers field, explains our lack of electricity 👍

Good grief .. squall line must be hitting us here, absolutely phenomenal
rain and wind !!
Kept the power so far though.
I pity anything out in that tonight.

A fairly quiet night here a couple of gusts around midnight woke me up but quietened down quickly.

Yes wild, but we didn't get the worst of it here, even although we lost power around the same time as @Wold Topper. SW is not the worst direction locally, Storm Barbet, easterly, was far worse here. Even a few miles up the coast Filey got a battering. Bridlington was gusting 59mph just before midnight, I suspect we had a few mph more due to elevation. Will have a look outside when its light, but only obvious casualty is a 'for sale board' opposite, nowhere to be seen now.

Morning all,
Hope no one has suffered any major damage overnight ?
Things seem OK here looking out now it is daylight.
I'll walk round my village later for a look around.
Wonder how long it will take to get your power back @Wold Topper
The squall line going through was the most exciting/worrying moment here.
One other weird thing happened .. this was before the big squall ..
We opened the front door to get a feel of the conditions and the gales were
making a strange, eerie pulsing sound .. just like a heartbeat.
It was definitely a sound the wind alone was making.
On reflection I wonder if it was the high speed of the wind with the open door,
like the noise you get travelling in a car with a window open ??
Take care today all.  Must be lots of debris about.

It didn't seem overly bad in my corner of Leeds, it's fairly sheltered. Nothing woke me up overnight.

Hope the recovery for all who had major damage is swift. Hats off to the utility workers who brave the conditions to restore power.

Rain has become more of an issue around ripon and surrounding areas. The rivers have burst their banks and many roads have closed due to flooding.

Still no power when i left for work this morning but Northern power in the village, they might finally cut the trees back properly that run to close to the power lines, this is the 3rd time this has happened in recent times in the same place 🙄
