Some very powerful gusts in Dishforth since around 10pm. A couple of car alarms have gone off throughout the night but it’ll take until daylight to see any real damage.

Local forecast thinks winds will peak this morning. Not backed by any other forecast so no idea where they are getting this from?

Very strong winds here this morning, woke me at 4.30am😒 59mph gusts in Bridlington, so probably low 60s here because of our elevation, so similar to Storm Isha. Because wind is W today rather than SW we have less shelter so effects are actually worse, and our bedroom faces W.

Just one gust to 50mph here. Interestering doing the weather measurements. Blew the writing pad from the stevenson screen into my pond. Always have do things in stages when it's windy. Change rain bottle go back inside otherwise it blows. Do the stevenson screen and if possible do the soil thermometer otherwise come back and take the soil thermometer inside so you can read it. Basically one needs three of four hands.

Definitely seems a bit more vicious for our region compared to Isha which was a bit of a non event really

It was much worse here than Isha. Woke me up multiple times last night. Must be a bad direction W for here. Bangs all around outside and house creaking a lot!

41mph gust around 4am looks to be highest on my station

Impacts around here are worse than storm Isha, a large (12ft x 8ft x 7ft) shed has been picked up by the wind and blown over a hedge, several bits of fencing down, and no doubt some other damage will be spotted when I go out at lunchtime. Here storm Isha had an amber warning, and this one is yellow warning, makes no sense, both are of similar intensity, and as such forecast was similar wind speeds.

Here is the horse shelter, picked up and thrown over a hedge by last nights storm Its quite a bit deeper than I thought, and a solid contruction. Fortunately horses are fine. Picture from Owen Pragliola on our village Facebook group

@Wold Topper sorry Wold Topper, just catching up again…thankfully our BT stayed in tact 👍🏼. I hear those that it blew out are still waiting for fix! Although the gusts didn’t seem as strong with Jocelyn it was a more consistent strength throughout the night & tbh I enjoyed falling asleep to the noise!

A pretty grim day today just sat in cloud, no visibility & drizzling.

With 2 storms under our belt this week I suppose we can’t complain about a bit of stillness!!

Lunchtime today has brought fog and dampness. Couldn't see the windsock at Grindale airfield but guess would be Force 3-4 SSE winds. Feels cold at 7c. All over featureless grey. A better day for cycling in spite of the grimness.

The horse shelter has been returned to its proper place, and seems none the worse for its airborne journey. Various bits of minor damage around the village, ridge tiles off etc. I think we had some pretty bad gusts locally, as I said up the thread Brid got 59mph but I think that was exceeded by a fair margin here. Not sure what happened, some local effect I assume. It was dark and nothing to see.

Yes, I hadn't expected the gales this morning.
Haven't paid such close attention to forecasts perhaps.
My bins went over with a bang to wake me.

No squall here but winds picked up afterwards with a peak gust of 50 at 5:30. At that point a few wheelie bins launched.

Yes, wind and rain woke me during the night. Surprisingly high gusts too.

I do hope that's the end of High winds for a while. Plus, the Wheelie Bin parties must stop! It's a conspiracy I tell you!

Well forecasted temperatures for today were way off. I was riding my bicycle around Lincolnshire, mostly in the Wolds and I can tell you I would not describe the weather as "mild" at all, the wind was very bitter indeed. There was an hour of very-early Spring-like weather in the early afternoon and then the wind picked up again and it was bloody cold once again. 😀 But at least it was dry!

We are just outside the latest Yellow rain MetO warning, but looking out of the office/spare room window the rain is heavy and persistent. No doubt all the surface flooding spots will fill up again, and the field ponds will reappear.

14mm here today. Rainfall for the month is now 57mm, which is wetter than average but not by much (average is 50mm).

Only 8 days this month have recorded more than 1mm of rain. The average for January is 11. Most of this month’s rain has fallen on 3 days (14mm today, 12mm on the 2nd & 15mm on the 1st).

All in all not an awful month as far as Januaries go.
