Is Reading and its surronding areas included in this group or should I be in the southern one, not the SE one?  There should be a map or something that shows what areas actually are.

We're going through our last 15 min yellow blob for now, and now that everything is covered it's all accumulating and things are looking increasingly snow drenched.

Frustrating gaps and lack of intensity after this looking at the radar, however.

Well I did say this earlier but I was completely disregarded..

As expected the showers are dying away in the North Sea, wind direction is shifting and its drying up for the east.

Mostly light flurries now

The streamer going into North Kent will develop and push West next few hours.

Disagree, sat image says otherwise as well as wind convergence has now shifted

You'd be surprised how quickly convection can develop in this flow. Yes the radar looks poor at present. Wait until 6/7pm.

Hi Winter, I've been over to Barrie and Midland in that neck of the woods many times. A different world!

Yeah I lived in Barrie. Loved it while I was there, but was definitely over the whole clearing snow from my drive at 6:00am in a windchill of -30 so I could get to work, by the time I left.

I am in Fleet, NE Hants and generally drop in to the SE group, SW and occasionally Central Southern, usually depending on which direction the weather is coming from 😊

Is this the same Kasim that was obsessed with the Iberian heights?

Glad some places are doing alright (looks like Kent/Sussex) always microscale events in the south east!

Just plain old polystyrene balls here illustrated by Dougal...

I lived downwind of Georgian Bay in Canada for 7 years and became an expert at predicting Lake Effect Snow (best dump was 45cms from 11:00pm to 7:00am the next morning). I actually predicted what we are seeing now in the South east the other day on the main chat. The large models are rubbish at picking up Lake or Sea Effect snow..a little smudge of precipitation can be 20cm! The streamers are forming just at the bottom of the North Sea to the east of the Thames Estuary. Unfortunately the wind is going to shift slightly to east later this evening, so this won’t last, but we could get a few cms in some parts of the the South east, especially if it carries on into the evening. Got about 1 cm here in Southern West Sussex, but radar is looking good upwind.

Snap. Spent some time in Collingwood. I mentioned it too back on Thursday. You can just tell from experience how it's acting. It's like its own beast. Nothing like a great lakes snowstorm though.

Glad to see some here got a little snow and whilst we still have a window of about 3 hours left I feel a little underwhelmed what we have seen.Had a few heavy flurries here between 10am and now leaving temporary deposits but think the theme for next few days is frosty nights and sunny days which will be most welcome after 10/11 weeks of heavy rain.Looks a little milder Friday and Saturday before colder weather moves down from the North on Sunday and with that maybe another cold shot/spell could be on the cards.
