Next few hours should see quite a lot of 80-100 mph readings in Scotland I would expect.

It's really not bad here in the north east do you think it's peaked for here?

It’s been fairly windy here and more than I expected. I would say it probably just about warrants the amber warning in this area, and I’d expect some trees to be down for certain.  The village is currently without power so something somewhere has blown over.

Think this has to be the worst storm I've seen

We must be getting sheltered by the pennines because its windy but not overly so

Models have between 10-1 as the peak for your area, but yes I think the terrain is likely limiting your gust speeds which models aren't the best at simulating.

Is it meant to turn westerly in the early hours?

The terrain limiting winds is such an interesting phenomenon. I live on an elevation but my actual street is at the bottom of a hill. My house is fairly sheltered ,I can hear the roaring in the distance a few streets away but it's *relatively* calm around me. Would be an interesting study to do as to how it works locally.

I’m sure the wind funnels up some streets causing it to intensify at certain spots. I’m no expert just a thought 😂

I was wondering about that too but haven't seen it mentioned since this afternoon.

I can report another fence down. Thankfully not ours. I was about 20 feet away from it when it went down. I was turning off my motorbike motion sensor alarm as it was going off constantly. Only heard it in the lulls. Alarm is 110 decibels.

Perhaps, a sting jet possibility - 90 to 100 for a short time

UKV does have very high winds in that area from 2-4

Strongest gusts so far in Cardiff now. Nothing too unusual for here, but size of the wind field clearly impressive.

An upgrade in wind speeds on latest 21z UKV for NE Scotland, particularly right at the coasts. Perhaps explaining the red warning here.

Grid values for UKV at 3am, can see why they issued a red wind warning
