There’s some wintry precipitation on the latest HARMONIE for the south west right into tomorrow:

Looks like there’s some quite heavy precipitation in places with that, so throw some evaporative cooling into the mix, and I wonder if a few more areas might get a snow surprise overnight.

Reg Sealey Great to see! Liking the lamppost special effects to boot! Happy days Reg - we wait all winter scratching our nuts, and then when you least expect it...

🙄😆

Forecasts have totally underestimated wind speeds all day here

Gusting to 39mph now.

44mph.

Just plain old rain here, mad when it's snowing virtually to sea level near the coast down in Devon.

Frosty_wsm Weird I know. BlueHedgehog074 has recently posted his thoughts on this on the MOD forum. 👏

And what strange is all of this weather is coming in from the south right from bay of Biscay and it’s not like it’s been bumping into extremely cold weather or anything and yet we’ve had snow.

Times during the winter we’ve had occasional cold air sat over us and rain comes in bumps into cold air and has stayed as rain a couple of times this winter.

my dad used to say nowt queer as folk.

I would add to that nowt queer as weather ….!

That was really crazy last night.

In Torquay about 7pm, there were some little bits of sleet hitting the windscreen, but I didn't think anything of it.

Making my way home around 8.30 and still no real difference, it was showing 4-5 degrees.

Then the temp really started dropping between Torquay and Totnes, which is when the snow started. Again, not terrible, but bad enough with all the flooding.

Once through Totnes, snow really got going. Visibility was absolutely dreadful. I've never driven in anything that bad, mostly because of the sheer amount of standing water that I couldn't see because of the snow hitting the windscreen.

I was actually really lucky I got home when I did - half hour later and I could well have been stuck! Plenty of reports across Devon of people abandoning their cars😬

It just shows how difficult it is to predict snow. Has caught everyone by surprise.

Just a small patch of snow left on grass this morning - with heavy rain, strong winds and possibly some thunder and lightning to come later today lol.

I can't believe it but I woke up and snow still on car and on roofs here.

Mind you it was snowing in the showers here yesterday so I shouldn't be surprised.

Edit here comes the next weather front. Will it snow again???

Morning All a nice sunny start to the day (I am talking about hours ago mind you) albeit brief, before the deluge started. A cooler night with the low of 2.8°C at: 03:48, currently 6.2°C , RH93% and a freshening breeze in the S - SSE.

On Golden sands, the beach has all but disappeared again.

Had two gusts of 40 and 42mph this morning, but the wind hasn't cranked up to what it is supposed to be, unless it's delayed..

I know we've had some shockers in the last few months, but today feels like the worst. It's been vile out there this morning. 🌧️
