A ridiculous amount of rain today and it's still pelting it down as I type this; up to 35mm which is about as much as you can get in a single day around here in winter, and you get that sort of daily total a handful of times in a year mainly in summer and autumn though.

River flooding making a return over the next few days i'd expect and already seeing reports of some issues around the Avon just east of the city.

Milder air making it's way northward now with a steady rise since 21:00, now up to 8C.

Oh well, not lost hope for late Feb or early March snowfall. Might not stick around for long but i'd like to see some settling snow before Winter is out.

I don't think we will see any appreciable snow now.  Another winter for the bin!

Heavy rain all day and the fields flooded again.

Don The chances are getting slimmer as we go through Feb and into March, but I honestly think some of our best snowfalls more recently have been at the end of Feb and start of March. Had around 10cm here at the beginning of last March, and who could forget that beast from the East in March 2018? That was an incredible event. I lived in Northampton at the time and we had a good 10-15cm there that stuck around for a good 4-5 days.

Edit: Just found the chart for March 1st 2018, incredible looking chart!

I recorded 31mm in Evesham yesterday.

That compares with an official February LTA for Pershore of 35.6mm and my own ave (since 2007) of 40.7mm

We had already had 17mm on Tuesday on top of that.   Not surprisingly, the Avon is in flood again although levels are not currently expected to be quite as high as in January.

Hi all, well I'm in Nijmegen so obviously didn't get any snow, but really disappointed to hear that it was a bust. My daughter in Sheffield got snow and sent me some pics. This is shaping up to be a poor winter (again)...

Neil Harris I think the snow was as deep as 2013, bur 2013 definitely stuck around longer! I was working as a domiciliary carer at the time and was cycling from house to house, I can remember having a few hairy moments nearly coming off my bike because of the snow and ice, that seemed to stick around for weeks 😂

Another miserable day today, looks as though it’ll clear up for the weekend thankfully.

Back home in Longton and there are actually some small piles of snow up against walls so it must have settled here earlier while central Stoke saw nothing.

Since the deluge here that began yesterday, it definitely was apparent in run off from fields etc 💦💦💦  driving through parts of Brum and on to Redditch this morning, then later back to Solihull, flooding was everywhere today…..my back garden/fencing is still absolutely soaked…..Just a shame it wasn’t all ❄️❄️❄️🥴🤭

54mms recorded locally since Tuesday pm.

My own gauge appears US so I'll have to fix it tomorrow.  (spiders probably!)

Run  off water everywhere on my walk -  when it turned drier this afternoon.

Having a break next week, so hopefully drier.

The Avon peaked at about 0.5m lower compared to early January in Rugby, but the Sowe reached record levels like in late November 2012, and also the same as early last month. Flooded some homes further north in Coventry. When it will it stop...

I was hoping to build my igloo yesterday, but instead the foundations are full of water from the cold rain that was supposed to be snow! 😲 🤷‍♂️

Love snow, but as Winter nears Spring I become less interested in it. Don't really enjoy the snowfalls you get in March/April where it melts by mid-afternoon as per last year. Prefer the early Winter dumps where the snow becomes crunchy underfoot and makes you feel like you're in the baltics for a few days.

Mind you, it is pretty seeing colourful crocuses pushing out of the white blanket.

Prayers answered with a lovely day today after the autumnal rubbish we saw last week. Not expecting it to last though…
