  1. someone laid a big snow egg in Russia Regarding the ICE, I have noticed that there is a small but significant enough to worth mentioning correlation between the Westward extent of Ice and cooler Winters. Example is last winter, look how far East the Ice extent is compared to 2010. In 2013 it was as if the concentration of new Ice formation was on the Eastern Edge of the Ice mass, closer to Canada, where as in 2010 and indeed this Autumn, it would appear that the new ice build up is concentrated on the Western edge moving toward Scandinavia. There could be nothing in it, but if someone has the time maybe it's worth checking the archives to see if there is any sort of correlation between new Ice growth in October being concentrated in the Western Edge and cooler winters in the UK, or New Ice growth being concentrated on the Eastern Edge and colder Winters in Canada and the States ? I'm probably using the wrong terminology and struggling to explain what I mean, but I hope someone there can see what I'm trying to say
  2. I recall very well that this time last year the majority on here were gunning for a sluggish BUT COOL start to Winter but a much colder 2nd half, it never really transpired that way and I think by the time we got to Mid January it was clear that Winter wasn't going to deliver. IMO THIS Winter may well end up going a similar way everyone thought it would last year. I.E Unsettled mild and wet start, with a rapid cool down and several short lived cold snaps capable of producing snow anywhere from Mid Jan to March
  3. Ahh Netweather to the rescue | https://forum.netweather.tv/topic/73595-lots-of-lightning-but-no-thunder/
  4. That's it !! And it's not showing up at all on any lightning site, I'd say that's about 5 miles into the channel probably parallel with Seaford | Peacehaven and not at all the stuff that's further along the channel. Whatever this is, it is NOT showing up on any rain radar returns or any lightning detectors so it begs the question what the hell is it and why is it yellow /?
  5. The sky here is insane, lightning every few seconds off to our East, I'm talking huge massive lightning strikes that are yellow for some reason, yet no thunder at all,.I've never seen anything like it, it's like there's a dog fight going on in the sky but with no noise. VERY Bizzare, I really hope someone captures it on film as it's very eery indeed.
  6. What the hell is going on off the channel here, probably somewhere around Eastbourne ?? There's a party in the sky, I have never seen so much lightning in my whole life, but it's all happening in the clouds and there's no thunder, but my god it's amazing to see.
  7. My Hopes for this Winter are that we'll enjoy Constant snowfall every single day from 15th November, through until the 1st April. Not so much that we can't get about, but enough that we can build igloo's and throw snowballs at unsuspecting unruly ''know it all'' Teenagers. I'd love to see a one week period when the snow is high enough to completely cover my neighbors car too, because I think he'd probably blow a fuse without his beloved machine and would have nothing to do, because he spends his life cleaning it, polishing it, and generally showing off in it, so to see him without it would be hilarious. Not only that but it would actually be quiet where I live and all the yummy mummy's would have nowhere to congregate and gossip. I'd look after all the old dears and make sure they were looked after and the local wildlife was well fed, man I'd be in my element. So bring it on please, loads of crisp cold days (not too cold mind you), and lots of nights where the snow reflects the moonlight and you can read a paper outside in the dark, with a whisky and shout at young people with a pointy stick
  8. I think due to the fact you have highlited the areas where BFTP was wrong about this summer that you have already made your mind up about his summer thoughts. In fairness my summer forecasts are always wrong, but my winter forecasts have been absolutely spot on every year now for the past 3 years in a row. I wont bother putting out a summer forecast next year, I care not what happens in summer, it has to be endured as far as im concerned. So don't judge BFTP's winter forecast or thoughts by his summer one. And just for the record, my own winter thoughts ??...I'd say there's much more chance of it being closer to average than last Winter.
  9. This whole event has been laughable. I was camping in Suffolk this week and Friday night's wind and rain makes this so called ''Event'' look like child's play. Why Oh why do these extra tropical storms in summer get so much press and the real big events like the recent thunder storms get hardly a mention in mainstream press. It seems that as soon as the Mainstream press start to put time into discussing the weather for some forthcoming event, all the weather sites jump on the bandwagon and issue armaggedon forecasts. Hands up to Netweather though, you guys have been solid throughout this and not once to my knowledge have you given this any more attention than any other previous storms or events, calm and consistent from this site over the past 12 months. good work NETWEATHER !
  10. I have never known anything like this !! 90 minutes of CONSTANT Lightning, thunder, hail the size of conkers and I have the whole thing on tape, still recording as I type, the storm is STILL rolling in off the channel. By far the longest thunder storm I have ever seen, this whole area has been absolutely hammered !!
  11. Frequent Lightning and Thunder, but it's all happening a good distance East of here. Still it's nice to watch it from a safe distance, unlike last night when it was literally on top of my roof ! :-)
  12. I kid you not, last night here in Mile Oak our flat got hit by lightning. I was standing on the balcony when it happened and the noise and blinding light was not funny I can tell you. I love storms as much as everyone on here, but I have a new respect for them now, I was absolutely terrified. No joke, I was a mere 10 meters away from the strike, as close as I ever want to get to lightning. Out TV has broken, we have no phone line working and my partners ''Sleep Achnea'' machine broke too. I'll never forget last night and it's looking like another storm is incoming !! I only wish I had video'd it, because it was beyond description.
  13. Mark my words, Summer will be wet, Summer will have some very hot days (35 +) and vicious thunderstorms. But wall to wall sunshine it will NOT be, CET will be about the norm for most, but it won't tell the full story. Anything but dull weather over the next 3 months IMO.
  14. Dude., you own a whole Solar System ?? In which Galaxy ?..I want one !!
  15. That's me off to bed for the night. A 5KM time trial tomorrow morning at 9am, should be fun !! The storm is not going to get any worse down this way, i'd say it's at it's peak about now IMBY. Maximum Gust here just west of Brighton ended up at 78.8 Mph. which is EXACTLY the same as XMas Eve was oddly enough !! Night all x
  16. I think it's peaking here around about now, another Top gust has just come in at 68.5 Knots = 78.8 MPH !! I can't see it getting above that ! http://www.shorehambeachweather.co.uk/ Much higher than I expected it to be tbh
  17. That Bognor Beach cam is amazing. I can only imagine what it must be like by the King Alfred in Hove, definately going to check it out down there tomorrow's day time high tide
  18. Yikes, I spoke too soon !! Local weather station has just recorded a 70 Mph Gust ! (61.4 Knots) http://www.shorehambeachweather.co.uk/
  19. New Max Gust here 65 Mph. Beginning to feel a bit more like a storm now, pretty close to the XMas Eve storm in fact. I doubt we'll go over 70 Mph here though, so once again Met Office look to have got this spot on Ha Ha, I remember you now from last winter. We're both in Mile Oak !! :-) Yes I just went out along Mile Oak road for a quick dog walk and it has picked up a lot, it's worse out there than it sounds oddly enough. But no worse than we have seen over the past 3-4 months. ...Yet !!
  20. lol Hi Daniel, Those are pebbled beaches that bank moves up along with the waves, the waves create the bank in fact. As far as I know, and I might be wrong, but there's not any sandy beaches in Bognor
  21. I'm about to go and take my dogs out for a walk around the block so Ill let you know , but here in Shoreham Max Gust so far is 61Mph. in 2014 I have seen it higher than that 3 times already, so I think I agree, for me this doesn't feel extreme at all. Maybe we're just getting accustomed to it ??
