  1. That's what worries me we need a westward movement of the air to heat and dry things out, SW air will just dampen the atmosphere Winds from the east would be ideal
  2. Usually a storm event like last night breaks the weather for 2 weeks or so. But this time it appears to be bringing in a change to Warmer, hotter weather. 06z I feel might take a step down and revert back to cooler. Will see
  3. What should I wear next week? New GFS: Winter jacket / factor 50 buy coal, sorry ice cubes no coal winter fire, heating on no 40C... Given the summer we have had, a jump to 25C uppers is slightly schizophrenic at best. I think its overplaying 850s but underplaying temps. Whatever it's doing its broken.
  4. Looking like an eastward track, Rouen, then up to Calais - Dover clipper
  5. If you want to know what the Caen cell looks like close up, this was taken an hour or so ago. From twitter
  6. Looking at the ECM I wish I had invested in antidepressant pharmaceuticals in Scotland
  7. I know but we are still in daylight hours so there is some surface based heating also there. See what happens between now and 11pm if they keep going until they reach UK then the elevated will survive longer
  8. Yes it did, but it died very quickly again. Lack of warmth over UK could be a factor tonight
  9. Next cell forming - will be interesting to see if the channel/UK cooler air kills them during next hour.
  10. Strike rate starting to slow on the france cell for a bit. Might pep up again, when more moisture mixes in.
  11. The sunshine over France today with the added ingredient of our misty/drizzle moist mush has triggered active cells now heading NE
  12. 12z backs down on the higher temperatures , BUT.. only for the UK. heat still remains strong heading towards 40C in France.
  13. Report on Twitter that temp rose 6C in 1 hour in Normandy. Good sign warmer air pushing in.
  14. I think there will be scattered storms showing up earlier but around Channel islands/into the north of France. Maybe below IOW. It's quite warm muggy outside now and I'm further west.. So definitely a lot of energy out there - looks promising
  15. No tonights storms will form in situ at an elevated mid/higher level. You won't see tonights storm on the radar until the 10pm-1am period
  16. Some decent heat packing in behind that rain , france shooting up
  17. Yes just noticed the model is not mapped horizontal, matching the isle of wight it shows the echoes south of London, up to Oxford. M4 really.
  18. 00Z GFS looks good next week, models are downplaying temps I think
