You're in Leeds Cool B)
I think Leeds is an excellent university, compact but I got a really good feeling about the place (many years ago)
I hope it's everything you hope for
-
I wish I had gone to Uni
My brothers had a whale of a time
It makes me feel old to think that a girl in my class now has a 19 year old daughter
-
It's funny but not for poor old grandma but luckily she sees the funny side of it
She's lovely, can't walk very well any more and suffers lots of sores etc on her legs but she's as bright as anything mentally and loves seeing little fella
-
Forgot to say that Babys'r'us are quite good.
You can also get a catalogue in the store (if they have any left)
Word of warning - change bag will become your handbag so try not to have one with Teddy Bears etc on (unless that's your style) I'm looking to buy a mono strap type one next time. Plus you don't need special wet clothes bags, that's what nappy sacks are for
Oh and on the subject of nappies, if you do go for disposables in the end - don't buy a nappy bin  Believe me you will want them out of the house asap, just put them in a nappy sack and chuck em out the back door
-
Oh blimey, how you can quickly spend a fortune on baby things you don't really need.
Two places to try are
a) a local car boot sale - you will find loads of stuff (some brand new or barely used) You can get some really trendy gear, especially for 0-3 months as they grow out of it before they even wear it.
B) check your local National Childbirth Trust - they often have sales of 2nd hand stuff. Believe me you can get some real bargins
There is also a magazine that used to come out twice a year called "Baby Best Buys" which has user ratings of things from pushchairs to baby carriers and can save you making expensive mistakes.
If you use a pushchair with a car seat, remember don't leave babs in the car seat for too long while going round town etc, it can damage their spine plus it's mega uncomfy for them
Enjoy and buy a few nice new things as well
-
You're really lucky to have such wonderful parents
They sound like they won't let things get in their way and I'm sure they love helping you when you are about to make them Grandparents
Enjoy the pampering
-
You should really try it and don't worry if the pastry sticks to the rolling pin and you get holes, just patch it together and it's fine
Think I better make Chocolate and Banana cake cos there are some nanas starting to turn a bit nasty at home so better use them up
-
Awww Katie...I feel for you, love! Hopefully you'll be like me, and the achy time will finish soon as the uterus starts to lift up off your pelvis a bit....
Hang in there ducks, and make sure you have a ready supply of choccy and stodgey cakes to see you throught the hard times....
Ooooooooo and make sure Mr Loo is signed up as chief cook, bottlewasher, slave, skivvy, chocolate fetcher, etc, etc!
Take care....
Mr Loo is AWOL at present and is going to be AWOL a bit more soon.
Need to sell the house and things will be a bit better. Good news though, someone is very interested and have 3 people interested in their house, so fingers crossed
-
Just wait until the cute Squirrels arrive....then watch as they manage to rip apart most bird feeders
I wouldn't mind the Squirrels if it weren't for their distructive ways <_<
Nice that you have some little feathered visitors though
-
Congratulations
Sounds lovely, just the type of house we would like.
As for the Wirlygig thing, you will appreciate it when MiniRoo arrives
-
Did you get a third nice thing??
That would be telling
-
When I was last down in your area we went to an old house where a chap collected stuffed animals. No just little things but massive tigers etc
It would not be very PC today but really fasinating for little ones
-
I was walking back from town one hot day and this guy was walking towards me and a friend. He was really tasty looking, no shirt on...hummmmm
We got close and of course I was paying attention. As we got along side him I noticed he had a ring binder type file in his hand in front of him (strange  )
As we walked past he lifted the file and.....well  I didn't really see but I got the general idea of what he was doing.
Why  , he was a really good looking fella
My thoughts afterward were that I should have said something but in the circumstances couldn't
Put the whole thing behind you and be strong in the way you might deal with it if you were ever unlucky enough to experience it again (I hope not)
Interesting idea if you are ever followed - turn around and walk towards the person, it throws them, as they think they have the power and no longer have it
-
Ewww.......Yuk
A girl I know once got flashed at and she just pointed at him and laughed. The guy looked really disappointed
You did the right thing to get up and leave though
Poor you
-
Are you a bit stressed at the moment hun?
I get loads of mouth ulcers when I'm stressed
Hope it gets better soon
-
Thanks for that TWS
I need to concentrate on the next week before worrying about any further
I have a scan on my kidney next week and while it should be ok, there is still a niggle in the back of my head worrying incase it's not. But I suppose there is nothing I can do about it, so I should just wait and see
-
No phone = No NW :o
Enjoy yourselves, put your feet up and get pampered
Good luck with the new house B)
-
Glad to see you got some piccies this time
I might try to persude the woman who is scanning my kidney in a week or so to have a quick look at MiniLoo (she did last time )
-
I used to live on that stuff when I split up with my ex, plus the calms
All natural, so no nasty chemicals <_<
Worth a try even if it's only a phsycological (sp) effect
-
It must be hard to not get a bit paranoid
Maybe you could try the suggestion of going in nice and early for a while when it's a bit quieter. Plus you could hopefully leave early and go for a nice relaxing swim or something similar
Statistically you are very safe (does help me with flying  ) and hopefully these nutters have run out of equipment/people to make bombs that work properly now
Talk to people and go and see your doctor as well, you're not the only one who feels like this and seeking help is not a sign of weakness
Take care
-
Glad to hear it went well at the hospital. Some people can be so insensitive and not realise how certain things said can be a huge cause of alarm to mums, especially first time ones
The news about London is a bit scary but we must not let them beat us <_<
Take care hun and who cares if MiniRoo is big or little, they will come out when ready
-
Try this link and fish around a bit for the 3 weeks? I think it ran for
I wouldn't personally follow it to the letter but it has some useful ideas of how to change your eating habits for the better
-
Diets don't work, well in my case. If I were to deny myself something I would want it all the time
Around Christmas I got reading about the GI diet, not so much a diet more a change of the way you eat. More complex carbohydrates. I weaned myself onto Multigrain bread for toast in the morning and made sure I had at least Granary bread at lunchtime if not three bean soup. I found that I was no longer snacking and reaching for the chocolate all the time (until MiniLoo came on the scene and wrecked it all  )
Worth a try, no counting points or starving yourself, just changing eating habits a bit
-
Yes - what Katie broke next

Thanks guys
I'm a bit more with it today, although the Midwife was worried that I look extremely pale and tired
I'm going to speak to the consultant about pain relief on Friday, as I can't take my current tablets and drive so I need an alternative.
I'm on a bit of a slow down at work this week, boss is not in so I don't have to worry about being harrased to do pointless tasks as per usual
