    Nothing wrong with high pressure. Builds a local cold pool and chills the ground and sea. The important bit is which way it eventually moves. As you say, hopefully it opens the door to the East.

    Is it wrong though? Not happened yet. It's a bit like the new fad of cancelled flights when it is forecast to snow rather than when it does. Invariably the snow does not arrive..

    Yep keeping on eye on weekend of 3rd as my Birthday. Has gone from summer to winter in 24 hrs.

    Better just stick to stocking shovels then! It's many a year since the winter started like this. 11 to be precise but I don't remember so much volatility and this just adds some sparkle.

    Go halves with you on the Chalet, my idea of heaven. Back to the models and I think we may have a couple of crisp, dry, sunny and breezy days. They can be fantastic.

    Actually happy with that. No widespread snow but will help to cool ground and sea temperature, would feel seasonal and bright crisp days.

    There were a couple of frosts in the last week and max temps in double figures. My Midlands weather station. We are talking potentially very much colder than this. Daytime wind chill sub zero.

    Yep, chopping and changing is all part of the fun/interest. However cold or not it gets, we are in for a sustained period of interesting meteorology after a lengthy period of boredom.

    I agree to an extent but Meto ties in better with GFS. Also, you have seen the model variation. First 7 days look great As has been said, get the cold in first.

    850s not great but I would take this in November every time. Still lots to play for.
