Folks who got the 'heads up' and with clear skies were lucky, unfortunately (more like typically) it was completely clouded out here at the peak time. Ironically i'd just been looking at Northern Light Flights from Manchester in the evening, with the next one being on November 11th priced at £249, it's tempting but might be cheaper chancing it on a low-cost flight and staying over for a long weekend at Reykjavik again in the late Autumn months.

Normally, only Scotland and parts of northern England are treated to glimpses of the Aurora Borealis on the rare occasion they can be seen in the UK.

I'm so disappointed I didn't know there was a good chance to look.
I used to like the members updates 'what's on your mind' on the side of
the site here. Some kind folks used to quickly put up a 'heads up'
notification there that caught my eye.

good chance tonight as well as a second strong solar wind may well intensify what happened last night. May well take a trip onto the moors tonight and hope for some clear spells.

Looking at the met office website, 6pm to 7pm looks to be about the best time...

I didn't see yesterdays forecast, so I don't know how they compare strength wise, hope this cloud  breaks up

Red alert on my app, aurora likely, possibly visible from anywhere in the UK.

I'm right on the south coast, so it will need to be a decent show for me to get in on the action

I have a couple of spots in mind for a time lapse, and the cloud is starting to melt away fingers crossed

This page alongside the UK 'Aurora Alert' app is also worth keeping a eye on, currently (if it still wasn't light outside) there would be another good chance of spotting it over Scotland.

Timelapse of the aurora last night from 21:39 to 22:02

The vivid red rays make it up to just past Andromeda which sat at about 20° above the horizon.

There are a number of live cams on this site from Lerwick, Shetlands.  Not sure which direction the cams point.  If you google Lerwick live cam, you will find it.  Sorry can't do links, thought it maybe useful for a heads up. Cliff cam 3 points North.

Cursed clouds blocking the view here once again in the Peak District, but places with clearer skies now have a good chance of seeing some 'Northern Lights' action.
