Met Office cloud forecast tallies with the NW short-term in favouring some breaks over the western side of the Peak District between 9pm and 11pm, it's 50/50 but even if it's a small chance i'll risk it to head out for 2 hours.

Looking at the NASA forecast loop, they are suggesting the peak will occur around 10:30 ish.

Some good activity over Lapland with Kiruna having a decent display at the moment. If that moves to the west then things could well improve (apart from the cloud that is!)

This is looking down on the A1 towards Edinburgh. THere is too much cloud but hints of green behind it.

Does make me laugh that the BBC has a live thread for the northern lights when the vast majority of the UK is under overcast skies.
