hi Brian,

heavy rain now, very fast deterioration. The rain shouldn't get as heavy here as further south but it is likely to stick for many hours which may become dangerous for flood prone areas.

Karyo

The rain intensity is increasing here now after a bit of a lull. Skies are dark to my south, and this looks like persisting for some time, alarmingly.

Just driven from Warwick to Birmingham. Along the back road through Lapworth there are big floods everywhere, it's going into the shop fronts in Lapworth. The water was up to the top of cars' wheel arches in several places. Joined the M40 at J15 going north - no other traffic because the M40's closed further down... at the merge of the M42/M40 the police had stopped the M42 traffic because the motorway had turned into a lake. Those of us coming from the M40 were allowed to plough through it. In B'ham it's raining steadily, but not as heavily as it was in Warwick at 3pm.

Hi again karyo

I do not like the look of that big blob of red and pink sat over lincolnshire right now.

It is looking very worrying. I hope that it dosen't hang around too long especialy over the

Humberside region.

According to my local forecaster a bit earlier by paul hudson

he said the rain would only be light/mod when it reached the humber

and at the moment it looks like he could be hopelessly wrong

it is absolutely hammering it down here. The local supermarket car park is flooded with about 3 inches of water, as i have just found out, and the smaill watercourses next to the main road heading towards the town centre are full with water lapping at the edges.

Moderate rain here with no thunder or lightning. Main thing though is the wind, it is howling like a winter gale out there with trees bending over, must be gale force in the strongest gusts.

Torrential rain here for the past 5 mins starting to get worried now because it looks like there's lots more on the way.And with winds gusting to 35mph its very scarey outside.

 I thought we were over the last of it as it stopped raining and brightened up a bit. It's now hammering down again.I went earlier to pick my daughter up from school, i had to walk through rivers of water up to my shin :o My wife is late home from work, an 8 minute journey has so far taken one and a half hours!! This due to roads being shut due to the flooding.Swindon town centre is in a bit of a mess!!

Ironically in the school playground they have a wooden ship, it's never looked so realistic before!!

At long last! What took them so long? The rain over Lincolnshire is intensifying all the time.

Also, some very heavy showers just south of Cardiff.
