The latest radar is fantastic! The band is progressing northwest and intensifying. Just starting to affect the Birmingham area as well - my friend in Bromwich e-mailed me.

Also what's good, is that areas in Derby and Nottingham that saw thaw earlier now have re-settling of snow due to intensity and evaporative cooling!

thats what i would like to know too, the liverpool airport reporting problems with snow and that place is only about 3 miles west lol Still unbroken cloud here, but as i write snow starting to fall. Windchill dropped to -4 from -6 about an hour ago. dew point down to -2c, it did briefly go to -1c

:) 1.6ºc in Waterloo. We had about 2 cms of snow overnight and much of it has melted in this morning's sun. Overcast now though.

nothing for wirral

Nothing much for me either lou... just a couple of flurries earlier on. I think we'll just have to be patient and hope for the best. :D

I would be chuffed if this band hit the north-west, again much earlier tha expected, however, I am remaning cautious. May end up petering out very quickly.

I can only tell you what I can see out of my office window. We had about 1inch of settled snow left from this morning and all the cars were clear, but in the last half hour, its started to settle properly, all the cars are going white and the roofs and clear bits on the ground are covering up again. I live in Bacup and its going to be good fun getting back there if this carries on, long live four wheel drive!!

Shadowfax

Cheers Shadowfax. My partner found it very funny as I slid around and only just made it up our road this morning and she then cruised up in her 4WD!! Expecting a long journey home, but will be enjoying the snow, of course. Hope it pushes over to our "western" bit of Pennines.

At this rate the band will start hitting Manchester at about 4pm. The radar has come to life with bands of showers intensifying and merging even to the west of the main band (places such as eastern Wales. Everybody is joining the fun!

Over an inch of snow in Liverpool in just 15 mins. Still heavy. Fantastic.

Just had a really good shower lasting 30 mins, but it has melted on impact. When will the temps begin to drop away again?

The Metox radar looking v good for us, a more westerly component than the forecast anticipated.

Must hit us full on this rate cannot see how it will not.

Still heavy showers on and off.

Quite exciting this, brilliant idea these threads.

Off to read the midlands one now!!

looking at the latest radar, though it is moving in a wnw direction it looks to me to be a little too north and east afterall..thought it might just end up further west than anticipated..who knows we might get a quick heavy shower..but it looks more or less more nnw direction now..not sure though it seems to change every 15-30 mins..it might just undercut with the easterly flow and move further west looking at it again

Just to see what the members in the north midlands area are getting.

Agree about nowcasting, suppose the only way with UK snow
