Im in Edinburgh at the mo and its snowing but tiny flakes as expected but everything is going slowly white and its only been on 10 mins. Heavy but small flakes.

Snowyowl, let me know if you have any luck over there as i live in East Lothian (as you may have noticed) so want to know if its snow there? Where abouts in East Lothian are you?

Hi superrangers, i'm further inland than you, nearer to Pencaitland side. Its snowing lightly here too!! lovely light covering already!!

Although the snow is breaking up a bit over the central belt it appears to be pepping up a bit to the north?

Meanwhile, light snow continues to fall here at 0c :)

Nice dusting here..... :yahoo: was kind of hoping to use the snow chains to get to work in the morning

Early days yet, most places still have another 6-12 hours of snow to come :yahoo:

Guest Shetland Coastie
Any sign of a polar low developing in your parts, Coastie?

Edit: There's certainly something tumbling down towards your next of the woods: http://www.sat24.com/

Our local weather man said he was expecting the formation of a "lee low" off the Norwegian coast.

Have seen on the radar that the showers are peping up north of here, but the Ochils or the Campsies will get most of it, but would like to be wrong.

I wouldn't worry about mid february yet with snow chances tonight and over the weekend :)

Plenty of snow to come tonite and Thursday for Scotland. :)

On Friday and Saturday unstable northerly airflow will bring heavy frequent hail/snow showers. :)

On Sunday theirs a another major snow event coming from the North West Atlantic. :D

Just been out to the local shop..there's actually more snow on the ground than I thought.

Kinda ironic. On Monday we had those big beefy streamers coming off the North Sea giving a good dumping every 1/2 hour or so..today we've had 4 hours of light snow now accumulating quite well - imagine if it was 4 hours of beefy snow showers!

anyone to the north of us getting heavy snow?

the wind isn't carrying the heavy stuff here as much as in the west so far but will wait until the northerly sets in here later
