I have to say it's pretty insane......the thing is, i dont want to wake up at 7am tomorrow to find that all of this fantastic dumping of snow has been washed away by rain!!!!

Are you in Oxford town centre ?

Far more then an inch here in North oxford

Id guess a place like Brill Hill (600ft) must have had 4/5 inches tonight ? 2/3 here

I'm north oxford. About 20 mins from you tops! But my measurement of an inch is not fair really, because it's really quite sheltered outside the window from which I'm looking. A big tree where the snow is coming from and orientated so the building is a shield from the snow.

I'd imagine we'd get a bit less than you anyway though. Are you finding, like I am, that the snow is noticeably wet?

very close now nothing falling here though yetpost-2816-1233801249_thumb.png

In my earlier forecast for the next couple of days, I made the Birmingham, Tamworth, Coventry triangle my prime zone for 2 day snow totals. I hope you prove me right...

Its the kind of snow which great for making snowmen with, if partner wasn't here (she is asleep) I would probably been out there now like I was in the late 70s :yahoo: .

We just have light snow now but i see another heavy band just south of oxford

Must admit 24hrs ago i was expecting just rain

Must go to bed ,2nd interview tomorrow

Well I have never quite made it to watch the 00z gfs before but it is out in 45 mins !! I have really made a bad choice tonight as I am going to miss all the action in the morning as I will be asleep. I new I should have gone to bed at 9pm and set the alarm for 4 :yahoo:

Turning into an excellent event this--

In areas where snowfall had gone such as my garden path/patio, fresh snow is settling. A lovely thin blanket of snow covering all surfaces now but still continuing to snow moderately. Excellent!

Safe in the knowledge it is snowing, I am off to get some sleep. Gonna set the alarm for 6.55; fingers crossed it's still good by then!

Good luck everyone. See you in a few hours...
