Yep agree with that number, the first flash appeared to be in the Barnwood / Abbeymead area of Gloucester and the last was more Sandhurst direction.

Edit.

Rain has eased up a fair bit too now.

yes just another....looks like where ever it is it might intensify as the morning goes on......Its got brighter here now so hopefully the sun shows it self

All going very much to the GFS plan at the moment.

There appears to be a line of convection going up from the east of IOW to bristol way.

I think this is something to watch over the next few hours.

The sun almost wants to come through now

Yes a fair bit of rain for the time - probably about 7mm, looking on the Netweather cumulative radar thing.

Well, What a superb night of thunderstorms we had last night. The first batch of storms hit around 9.30pm til 10.30pm. After 10.30pm till around 12.30am we had very frequent cloud-to-ground lightning and very loud thunder, the rain was very intense. It all calmed down again, only to become very loud again at around 3AM!

GFS 6z moves main area of risk northwards from Hampshire centering on Oxford, now, and, a very special nod in the direction of Mid to North Wales, with perhaps a nice suprise for those near, or in corridor from Cheshire to Birmingham.

Trough is bursting back into life only a few miles NE of here. plenty of dark cloud bases about.

Torrential rain just begun falling from a developing cloud base right overhead.

I'm looking at the Sat, and the cloud looks like it may well persist throughout early afternoon, so if this is the case, no one in the Midlands will be seeing any storms today.

I reckon there's a nice surprise late in the day (18z) for NW Midlands, myself, but, then, there you go - we will know soon enough :)
