On radar looks like the first shower as reached landfall

Though they are not large cells at present

Had a lovely day at Alton Towers today, however, what a bang it ended with. Got stuck under the worst storm in the country as it moved over. (Check out ST10 around 18:55)

The lightning was dangerously close. Must have had at least 10 strikes within 50m in the car park, was worried some people casually strolling to their cars because they were soaked were going to get hit!

It was worse than US storms in Flordida, and by far the worst storm I have ever seen in the UK!

That's the anvil cloud I could see earlir I think, or a very similar one at least.

Hi folks. I look like I'm right in the middle of the predictions for tomorrow. Can someone help me with one thing though - the lightening detector never really links up with the radar. I no there could be some difference but today for example there seemed no rain in one area yet loads of lightening ? How could this be ??

POSSIBILITY..the rain evaporating before the radar returns were picking it up.....Just a idea......but ask in the learners area someone might know better than me

I thought you got two storms today Blizzards. For me to expect another storm tomorrow would seem a little greedy :lol:

Relative reporting thunder and lightning in Kettering, Northants at the moment (nr. Wicksteed Park) However, another person in Kettering cannot hear or see anything?

Its starting to rain here, but only very lite.. no storms in these brief showers as yet. Will let you know if it does :lol: .. very hot and still.. its horrible just feels like there is no air..

I think conditions are a little more favourable tomorrow and I think we should see development a little earlier in the day across the western side of the UK. Not much hope for here I'm afraid lol
