Thundery activity in NW France, satellite pictures show intensifying cloud there. Might yet get some distant rumbles this evening.

Looks nice in the Midlands :o

I can also see the tops of a developing CB at the moment. Its hard to tell wether its the Birmingham storm or a seperate cell altogether but the heads are towering in the far south.

Is it me or are the metoffice actually serious about this warning? Well I'm in the area (Buckinghamshire) covered by the severe weather warning and there's damn all positive convection around here, it's very muggy and earlier was pretty hot but it's generally just hazy flat cumulus cloud and there isn't much strong convection, no real towers exploding upwards.

All I can say is my money is on no thunderstorms but I can see on the metoffice rainfall radar a line of showers have formed stretching from Bucks up to Birmingham.

Twister the convection earlier as moved to the North and East of us...so at present nothing on the horizon..

hopefully a chance tomorrow

Yeah I know John, I'm just lazy today, I cba to change the type in photoshop.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand, the cell towards Wolverhampton seems to have stopped rumbling.

Sadly my swearing and cursing Wolverhapton hasn't lol.

I think, perhaps because of Wimbledon they may be being over warning, to me the main threat and even then for isolated storms has always been about Birmingham and an arc about wnw-nnw of that area.

Well there you have it, another storm passes by. Only seen one flash and a few rumbles. I would say aj will be getting this storm soon. Ridiculous, cannot believe my luck.

Armagedon of a downpour just passed! Was the best downpour ive seen in ages! The Lightning was good and the thunder quite regular!

Distinct tall cumulus towers looming to the NW of here, probably SW London way, radar reveals a line of showers stretching in a line from SW London up into the Midlands, looks like this is to due to NW-SE wind convergence zone looking at recent wind map:

Just seen BBC weather and they just said patchy rain tonight, nothing thundery?

Yes I think I have to agree with them I'm afraid. Looking at the latest radar image shows a clump of strong cells in France but they look to be on course in a NNE direction - possibly towards Brighton and surrounding area. There is some light rain just off the coast of Brest and unless it intensifies over the channel or if it hits land (Lyme Bay area I reckon) then its just a damp night for us.
