I think we could be heading for a funnel cloud, VERY gusty and as black as night, a few very big hailstones.

Shot over to the emly Moor mast.

Incredible rainfall here in Hastings between 4am and 745am this morning.

91mm was recorded by the borough meteorologist David Powell in that time.

105mm has been recorded locally.

Two lightning strikes, one blew the electrics in a St Leonards House, and one struck a local school forcing its closure.

This is the highest rainfall Hastings has recorded in 24 hrs since 1865, when records first started! ( and all this fell in under 4 hours )

Incredibly, under a mile away at the White Rock weather station, only 5mm fell.

Interesting as in Eastbourne during that time we had no rain at all. Very loud overhead TStorm now with lots of CG, IC (positive and negative) lightning and I think its heading through to Eastbourne and Hastings next!

I think we could be heading for a funnel cloud, VERY gusty and as black as night, a few very big hailstones.

I saw that cloud from here :) There was a rather nasty looking shower passing through Bradford at lunchtime, which dropped one lightning bolt and a hell of a lot of heavy rain :) I also drove through some torrential rain as I drive to Huddersfield along the M62 around the same time.

Anyone from Derby on? The storm that was producing my 'Elephant' thunder has passed too far west of me and seems to be developing into one hell of a storm. Anyone confirm this?? I am quite jealous :)

Just had a deluge here in Bracknell for about 10 minutes. Haven't seen rain like that for a long time. Thunderstorm passed us as well. Still rumbling away.

Interesting as in Eastbourne during that time we had no rain at all. Very loud overhead TStorm now with lots of CG, IC (positive and negative) lightning and I think its heading through to Eastbourne and Hastings next!

Hi, yes several supurb CG forks here in the last half hour, and a one "building shaker" peel of thunder, and yet more very heavy rain, not on the scale of this morning though thankfully.

I say thankfully, because of the poor souls that have been devastated by the flooding here.

Cheers guys.

Doing my head in trying to sort some video of the clouds out plus a distant lightning strike

Quite sunny here at the moment but it's black in the distance. Looks like round two

Im so jealous. Look at what I've got:

No...jealousy is when you are standing out in the courtyard with beaming hot sunshine with anvils all around you!! lol

Though there is an intense cell which looks as if it is going to come VERY close (maybe even right overhead...???), and what with the blue skies and sunshine overhead now and little to come over in the mean time, it may keep it's potency!

Praying....will know in the next 30 mins!

2ND BIG(ISH) STORM OF THE YEAR!!!

Biggish storm just passed overhead, still raining moderately, been raining heavily but not torrentially i'd say for the last 20 minutes or so with about 3 heavy showers before this we've had earlier, all with heavy rain and thunder.

This one though, saw about 5 flashes of lightning including a cloud-ground which wasn't far away as the thunder sounded the second after and the same with all the other strikes, lightning right after so the storm is right on top of us here, no hail though this time which surprised me.

AS FOR THE CLOUDS - I couldn't be more dissapointed right now, A DARK BLUE, BLACK EVEN LAYER OF DEFINITE WALL CLOUD crossed just to the north of me, with us getting i'd say the precipitation of the cell, and the wind was very very gusty, the fractus or scud was really dangling down and the cloud was unbelievably ragged and low. I'm certain i've just witnessed possibly my first ever proper wall cloud. Unfortunately, as I don't have a camera I had to ask to borrow my mum's and then brother's cameras which are both pretty damn good, both hadn't been charged and had no battery......GREAT.

Ended up wasting about 1 minute that's all and using my mobile phone camera which isn't bad but not too good but what a surprise, as the clouds are moving so quickly at the moment, the wall cloud formation seemed to disperse a bit or just vanish to the north of me and I'm really angry cos I really wanted to get a picture of that to show you guys cos that was a definite wall cloud it was so dark and low and I know what wall clouds from american supercells look like lol.

Ah well.....I have 1 or 2 pics i'll put up later but the quality yet again won't be brilliant.

Bring in more storms!!!
