BBC were saying much of the night in the extremities of East Kent if we are to go by their graphics... they were still showing snow for 5am

Yes, just got back from journey round outside Neil. I have been looking at that as well, its light snow however, but the odd bigger one in there. Perhaps we may just get some luck and watch them grow but if not they will just be like fluuries.

On the snow tour I covered:

Whitstable: 1 to 2 cm's

Blean: 3 to 5 cm's

Rouch Common: 3 to 5 cm's

Canterbury: 2 to 3 cm's

Boughton: 4 cm's

Thanks for that , i noticed varied depths aswell in my drive. Such a shame about that milder sector last night though

Is there anyone in the Coventry area who can tell me what the current conditions are like there and what the forecast is there for this afternoon / evening / weekend ? My friend is supposed to be driving up there after work but wondering if its best to stay at home !

Guest North Sea Snow Convection

There are some heavier snow showers mixed in behind the initial cluster that is arriving on the NE kent coast. They look to be tracking nicely this waysmile.gif

Showers heading towards Norfolk and these could give a little more snow, also for East Essex and East/Central Kent look very good for some snowfall, showers are amassing nicely off the Essex coast and I could well imagine some decent falls happening.

I'm hoping there isn't much cloud about locally tonight but the decaying front is coming southwards so I'd imagine its only a matter of time before some light snow and cloud comes down, those showers also going to add to the cloud cover.

To show just how cold its progged to be, evenunder the cloud the BBC are forecasting -3C for London, so further west in the clear skies -6/7/8s are going to be fairly widespread where it has snowed.

Just updated my blog: http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/58749-december-cold-spell-synoptic-discussion/page__pid__1651157__st__0entry1651157

Yep, looks like another wave of showers arriving across Kent and E Essez this afternoon, plus the showers further north likely to shift further south too.

Cloud increasing here, after a glorious clear morning, roads still barely passable in the town centre where they are on a slope, kids having a wail of a time sledging down the slopes in the park nearby.

I'm worried about driving back from Chelmsford at 8pm this evening. Last night it wasn't icy, it'll probably be icy tonight. If there's snow too, that will freeze on the ground and be 10 times as hard. If there's no PPN then it would probably be okay.
