No the band moving south today over the next few hours from the Wash region, its fragmenting, the main focus today will be in east Kent, not sure there is going to be much else further west bar light snowfall from the decaying front.

As for the band tomorrow night, 5-10cms seems likely from an active front, should be quite quick moving though so only a few hours event...but quite heavy probably.

He means the band currently over the Wash area now

Do you know if there is any more snow forecast for South London/North West Kent this afternoon? I really need to drive to Hampshire, but apprehensive if there's more snow on the way.

Only just had my driving test (in Chelmsford, what are the roads like there anyway) for this afternoon cancelled, really didn't fancy driving on these roads but sad, I wanted this done by Christmas!

Lovely and sunny, but snow not really melting as much as I thought it would in the sun.

Does that mean we are finall going to get some good snow totals by the end of tonight, Kold?

Still predicting 10cms for the home counties from the band but I think looking at the radar most areas will be lucky to get half that...mind you for Kent over the next 6hrs I suppose that is just about possible to reach that total.

Watch out for a bitterly cold night under the snow cover, esp if there is any clear skies about...

Who is predicting this for the home counties?

To me the home counties will be lucky to see a flake fall again today. Kent are the ones that should be getting 10cms surely?

Lovely lovely walk with the dogs — now I've got to go to a carol service in Cambridge where they had even more snow

Here's a shot of one of the best walks ever…

That looks lovely.

Hmmm, I wonder if these showers will just clip the SE Essex coastline?

Methinks Ive had my fun and these showers will miss me and hit you guys in E.Kent. Well deserved too. Good luck.

I'm with Archie - cant see that decaying occlusion bringing anything other than cloud and some light flurries. if you can get a flow off the sea then thats a very different matter so good for kent and poss parts of sufflok/norfolk.

also, i'm not convinced about tomorrow night either. the first front has been downgraded to nothing and the second one looks like it is headed the same way on the latest FAX for tomorrow am. i often find that the forecasters underplay the onset of any wintry weather and then overplay it once its arrived. it doesnt help their image re reliability.

I'm a couple of cms ahead of the centre of that arrow, and thus should feel the brunt of these showers. However, I am north east Sussex, near the border with kent. Is the fact that everyone is going on about east kent, due to poor geography? Is what we really mean, the south eastern triangle, in which case I'm there. NNE of Eastbourne, W of Folkstone, that kind of thing.

Yes, just got back from journey round outside Neil. I have been looking at that as well, its light snow however, but the odd bigger one in there. Perhaps we may just get some luck and watch them grow but if not they will just be like fluuries.

On the snow tour I covered:

Whitstable: 1 to 2 cm's

Blean: 3 to 5 cm's

Rouch Common: 3 to 5 cm's

Canterbury: 2 to 3 cm's

Boughton: 4 cm's
