All very strange this. Flash warnings are not handed out willy nilly after all.

I can see the PPN, but unless winds shift from due N to at least NE, we have nothing to get excited about?

def showers in the north sea are they seem to be head ing east i.e the ones just off the norwich coast

The people that replied to my post above , you're most welcome :o

Looking at the radar as soon as the showers come towards the south east , the northerly wind then shunts then towards Calais e.t.c

Unless there are strong developments near suffolk or that wind goes back towards the north east , give up now :)

You really want the showers to head West...... :o

May still be interesting tonight.

Strangely, that radar doesn't look to correlate with our NW radar? :o

The dutch radar fades before the UK coastline, only useful for looking at the north sea to our NNE/NE/E etc.

Neil with all due respect people should take the flash warning seriously.

I'm making my comparison of the section where the two overlap. :o

Hammer, flash warnings are not always accurate.. I have said to just keep checking the radar and the wind direction :o

Winds seem to have gone more northeasterly north of Norfolk and over Lincolnshire...I wonder if a shallow low may be developing?

http://www.xcweather.co.uk/

Hmmmm.

If something was developing NE we presume of Norfolk what radar would pick it up?

OK, for those of you who have access to the NW 5 minute radar, please compare it with the link tinybill posted and tell me that I'm not going mad, because, to me, they are not showing the same as each other. :o

EDIT: Before any clever clogs points it out, I know the Buienradar is a forecast run, but I'm comparing the start of the run with our 5-minute radar.

Not sure to be honest. I'm not totally trusting of radar off the East Anglian coast as the resolution is very poor in this part of the world. There was supposed to have been an upgrade done last year, but as far as I know its yet to be done.

Sometimes they are and my parents ignored the warnings this morning at their peril. They travelled by bus to Stamford today (15miles from Peterborough) and became stranded as all buses and taxis were pulled off the roads around lunchtime!

My point precisely, Neil - the only interesting feature I can see for my area is that further north about level with the north bank of the Humber, but further out.

EDIT: Also the band off the Northumbrian coast.

Fantastic day in the Essex hills today. 14CM of level snow with some impressive drifts.

On course for a ice day as well yahoo.gif

(And also very impressive with the outlook, a white christmas is looking more possible with each run)

Pictures coming soon. over 4 inches now on paths/roads and still chucking it down here in bourne at the moment and has been for over an hour. seems to be that line of showers passing through above the wash directly hitting us and 4 miles down the road where my girlfriend lives they haven't seen anything since 2 o clock.

Yes Neil, that hook is what I'm watching too. I get that as a risk for Kent, and I see the risk for Lincolnshire, but why are MetO showing the risk are being in between as well?
