BBC forecast just showed the main front marching through the whole country followed by a band of showers...I reckon 10cm is on the cards tonight on top of what EA already has. Exciting times.

How's north east kent looking? , haven't see the forecast today

12:15pm and it's still -1.6 with a DP of -3 in Heybridge, Essex.

Still a few inches of snow on the ground and the side roads are sheet ice. Should be interesting to see what we get tonight, the only melt we have had is the house roofs with the sun on them.

Matt.

Tonbridge - North West Kent

This is a dream scenario

6 inches of even snow lying

Sun shining brightly

Bitterly cold NE breeze

Temperature 0C

Icy conditions persisting all day long!

Brilliant - long may it continue!

Sorry to those who hate this type of weather.

Looks good for Norfolk, Suffolk AND Essex for tonight - the main front could produce upto 5cm, followed on by some heft showers covering the SE

On another note i LIED a second ago, check out the attachment temperature has FALLEN to -5oC here in the last hour! At midday!

Yep pretty similar here, -2c with dew point of -4c, and snow slowly disappearing off roofs - cant see it making it above 0c today or tomorrow

Could be even more of a winter wonderland come tomorrow morning

So where does that leave me lol i am mid kent.

Forecasting exact amounts as we have seen is near on impossible but in view of the fact that the cold front will have very cold air ahead of it and behind it as well, very rare I may add, I imagine you will end up in with maybe 5-10cm, but should the front stall slightly there could be more in a few lucky places. In exact disribution of where exactly will have the heaviest PPN is hard to predict, I feel it might be East Anglia again that does best. Its right by the South coast that it might start off as wet snow/sleet maybe rain in places.

Morning Nick. care to share your thoughts for the rest of the weekend with us? :)

We are expecting 3 - 10 cms of snow in the early hours tomorrow. Monday also looks interesting as snow is on the cards. BBC London's website is showing snow on Sunday & Monday :p:)

Not forgetting, it's a very cold or should I say freezing daytime temp of - 1c :):)

Here's the BBC London Weather website http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/8?&showDay=C

Unbroken blue skies so far today, bitter outside but my therm says 3C how accurate that is well.... Local weather station reports currently 1.4C it definitely feels a lot colder than that outside but the wind has really dropped as well.

Am thinking about climbing Blakeney church tower soon and getting some lovely snow pics, will try it tomorrow after the front has been over and fingers crossed topped everything up after our slight thaw

Temps still at -6C as of 11.30am. I reckon I will strugle to rise above -2C today and thats being generous.

What a classic cold spell this is turning out to be. Currently have 5 inches of snow outside with sub zero temps and the roads are like ice rinks. More snow tonight followed by a rapid drop in temps behind the front. You can't really ask or expect much more than that especially in Dec.

Oh yes I can  I've got £20 on for a white Christmas… not quite sure what the criteria is lying snow or falling snow for a win — preferably it'll do both on Christmas Day.

Falling snow, and depends on what city or postcode you've bet on.

Hi Nick, what is your take on LP on Monday and Tuesday as it pushes up from the south? Do you think that snow will affect a good part of the region on Monday into Tuesday?

Still around 1 deg C below freezing here, and no loss of the 6-7 inches of snow that fell yesterday in the shade.

Sure;

http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-bin/aktframe?TYP=temperatur&KEY=UK&LANG=en&ART=tabelle&JJ=xxxx&SORT=2&INT=24

Click 'Cold to Warm' to get lowest temps first

Temp has risen 0.5oC in last hour to a barmy -4oC

What i'll do is try and sort out an overlay at 1400 with the radar image and the projected precipitation by the hi-res NMM to show that the precipitation is far more expansive than projected....as long as there are no objections of course from the NW Team

I noticed this, a much wider area of ppn than had been progged! Good signs for tonight, but will EA and SE cope with this on top of what we already have?!

I'm not gonna complain with -4oC TEITS :D :D Ipswich has 12cm of snow too, so guess this is what is keeping temperatures so low here and for you.

Im dreaming of what the totals will be like tomorrow morning once the front has moved down :p

Think I better pop over to ebay

There's a steam train arriving in norwich at 1400 from kings cross for a carol service. How perfect would that have been?

A few flurries since 1000 but blue sky, mini avalanches off roof now

You know that will curse it and then the PPN will narrow, we'll know who to blame. :-)
