snow just turned heavier here - having hills to your southwest usually means we end up with very light snow, but it's fairly coming on now!! Very windy too, and this is just the beginning!!

Looks like we have a bit of a gap in the showers here.

Looks like it maybe quiet for quite some time.... i hope that organised band to the north doesnt just slide south east down the east coast and back out to the north sea

Interesting to note the pressure changes here last night - went to bed with the air pressure around 1006mb, woke up to it being 993mb!! And still the snow keeps falling heavily, despite the blue skies directly above us. Hopefully the break in the showers will give us an opportunity to get some last minute christmas shopping in before settling down to watch the snow falling.

Snow's on again...And, judging by the very dark sky, it could be a monster! :drinks:

Vast amounts of snow up north.

We gonna get a pasting later. Imagine a bog standard low pressure system sitting over us like this during summer - it would produce non-stop rain for hours on end. Indeed, this low is over Scotland for next 24-36hours!

I think the wind direction is turning a bit more westerly down here now which would drag in that batch of showers currently to the west of Arran.

:yahoo: Well, the Comma feature is passing south now, so snow will be minimal for central areas for next few hours. The Occl further north is where the real heavy stuff is. Folks up there should be reporting whiteout conditions soon, if not already. The Occl will slowly move south (with the low pressure) and generally sit over central Scotland for next 24 hours.

This is the kind of forecast that we go for at +240 that make our families laugh with how ridiculous they are - and now it's only 12 hours away!!! Brilliant
