Pretty poor it has to be said, sorry I don't think you see sight of the secondary feature and end up with just a few showers which might be heavy if your lucky enough to get one.

I have just seen the NAE 12Z(in the last 5 mins) and tbh it's a big down grade for snow totals in the south, I would be interested on hearing Ian's thoughts on this.

Essentially the wrap around goes approx 50 miles eastwards and then up to the north of the M4. Leaving Devon, Somerset and Dorset and Avon with precious little snow in comparision (still 4 or 5 cms maybe 2cms by the coast).

Very much a nowcast scenario though.

Thanks for that. Figured as much but ever hopeful.

Will make do with my 1cm then. :unknw:

Still, I reckon at 14,000 feet in November I should see some!

I really hope we get some more.

I dont trust this radar and sat images.

They look like this could be it.

But i suppose as the low spins up it may drag stuff up from the south.

I just dont know.

Im having a hard time reading these things today.

Only if ian was about .

Where is this "30cm of snow" ment to come from in Dorset because the precip in the channel looks like its heading off to France and the Precip to the North doesnt look a lot!?!?

Without sounding funny, you realise this isn't the main event like people have already said?

Certainly not seen the main event yet. Models now suggest the snowfall amounts will be less, further east (and north - so Bristol/Gloucestershire should get a bit) and it will all be a bit later than suggested - early hours of Wednesday. Dorset looks like getting off pretty lightly, and I am going to put away the shovel and broom I got out earlier!

Well, "apparently" theres meant to be more.

Where this comes from, I just dont know yet.

This band is meant to be just a starter..

Im assuming as that low rotates it will pick moisture up off the west and bring it east and from the north down south.

I just cant see it yet.

agreed, the stuff in the channel, looks to be staying mostly in the channel.....Possible wrap-around over west wales though should develop and drift SE to affect central/southern counties overnight.....An sometimes something will spring up out of nothing, as up here in the W Midlands, we're in between snow bands yet out of nowhere light/moderate snow has developed around Birmingham giving many an unexpected extra covering :D

New NAE does exactly as Ian suggested the hi res Met Office model had been suggesting

Pushes the heaviest precip into glos/wiltshire through the early hours

AWESOME!

SK

EDIT: Same as GFS 12z

Where this big snow event is gonna happen is anybodys guess. How can everyone get it so wrong. And where are all the self confessed experts on the model thread who are quick to promise us Armegheddon and disappear when it all goes t==ts up as per usual. Incidentally just had a heavy shower of rain here in sunny Bournemouth. Par for the course I suppose.

Just come on line so forgive me if this has already been said earlier in the thread but David Braine the spotlight forecaster said that the low was going to develop in the channel and that this early snow is not to do with the later warnings. So rightly or wrongly i'm still hoping for an event after 20.00
