the sun is shining here and still the snow holds on - I got tough snow up here - there is melting - but there will be snow left ready for tomorrow's offerings to sit on - snow can hang around during the day if it's not in sun light around this time of year - if we have a very dull day with constant cloud cover and temps around 1 - 2 then snow will just sit there and not melt

Adam - you kept going on about sleet/rain - alsorts last night when the front got to you - when it got to me - there was noooooooo intermediate rain/sleet/hail period - it started as snow and finished this morning when i got up as a snow shower still - we in the south east of wales on reasonable high ground get a better chance of pure snow events cause we are well away from the coast and well away from the west coast influence of the gulf stream drift - oh and one other factor, we had longer to get a nice crispy frost down too

The time difference was literally 20 mins from when i started reporting sleet, well to me wet snow is sleet I'm a realist I report it how it is. I woke up to lying snow too everytime uve had lying snow so have I, I just don't go off on some stupid wwwwwwwooooo its a blizzard everytime a flake falls.

you had to be here to see it Adam and I am a realist - I tell the truth - and there was noooooooooo sleet/wet snow/rain/hail/any other precip except snow from the first flake - I have a witness to back it up too - my other half Liza - and she has no real interest in the weather - but she'll confirm snow from the first flake and the fact that the snow was amazingly heavy with gigantic sized flakes - in fact the flakes were so big they were making mega shadows on the snow which looked like large insects - kind of like the film the mummy with the beatles - again - something my other half Liza commented on

nobody really knows - originally it was about 4 - 5am tomorrow but the last GFS run showed the front missing wales altogether - can't help you on this one I'm afraid - nowcasting/radar/lampost/head out the window if you fancy a late night or early morning

How's this for a bit more confusion about tomorrow's snow - the meto have an advisory out in text form for some parts of wales for the morning - so it should follow they should have parts of Wales shaded in yellow - well - just to confuse us -

they aren't shaded in yellow - so is the advisory on or off??????????????????????????????

update - it's changed to yellow now mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Well looking at the sat24 and the radar seems to be a lot of percipitation moving up from the south

temps going down nicely here how ever dewpoints rising looks like Cardiff could be in for a wet start to monday

but if the proffesionals a struggling it doesn't hold out much hope for the rest of us to

predict the outcome

Well just looked at Ian Fergusons blog from this morning. He looked extremely confident of no snow for south west and gloucester etc and just midlands. I think it looks a real no no, but with all the praying im doing to get it for my sons birthday tomorrow, I am hoping someone can pull it out of the bag for us. lol

Can anyone explain why the temps are dropping like a stone but the due points rising just as fast:unknw:

crazy.gifcrazy.gifcrazy.gifcrazy.gif

weird

just went outside - freezing cold now - even though there are clouds in the sky - the beginings of this "front" for early in the morning perhapsclap.gif

Surely that would mean fog is likely, not snow!

Luke

or you've got faulty measuring gear (although i do know it's possible)

I highly doubt it will snow in Caerphilly tonight or tomorrow. Depends what elevation you are. Anywhere under 250m and I would say forget about it.

really - if it gets here, big if, it'll be here (the main part of thr front) in the early hours - best time at even lower altitudes than that to produce some snow. Joo had a fair bit of snow last night

it's getting closer ali

it's running from south west to north east just underneath you in the channel now - and it's moving slowly northwards too - you should see some light "precip" I think in the next hour or so

be aware though it may not be snow now as it may be too light and the heavier main band may contain the goods if it gets this far north - I'll let you know when it's over you
