Heavy rain just cleared here in SE1 (didnt hear thunder, but know a rumble was reported) - so much so that the ceiling at work started to leak with rain water :drinks:

Nice a sunny now, so hopefully that might fire up a storm or two

If that Leicester cell can hold itself together then I am on a good E-W orientated road to intercept it, it seems to be developing on a line to that goes from Leicester towards London. Any thoughts on its likelihood of surviving this far north.

The Humber cell seems to have disintegrated. Maybe need the higher CAPE to reach the area later.

from a IMBY perspective for Kent, going by the track of the channel cells and 500hpa wind vectors it kinda looks like la harve --> deppe is where we need to see development to move into Kent but given the unexpected nature of today, i guess anything is about possible lol

yep! im really hoping that i hear a rumble or two! arghhh! im just not sure it will quite reach here! sun has been out more this last hour which is good i spose!

Hello All

Skies gone very dark here in Hitchin, and had one loud rumble of thunder so far, just light rain that starts and stops but not coming to anything yet....

Scrap that, very heavy rain and wind picked right up and some more thunder!

Ok, some satellite grabs, courtesy of SAT24 to show the state of play...

1) Infra-red of the UK and the near continent, showing storms over the east midlands, a nice cluster forming over South Wales/the West Country, and those monster storms/supercells over NE France and the low countries

2) Closer up visible satellite image showing the current storm set-ups for the UK

post-4149-038582100 1279121773_thumb.gif

and 3) Close up visible satellite imagery of the severe thunderstorms/supercells currently pushing into Holland, the loop (not in this image) interestingly shows the MCS back-building westwards towards the SE coast of England

Thunder now reported in Mid Devon (Tiverton area). Also exceptional rain been falling in the area esp. towards Exmoor. Everything is developing to my West and moving North. Will phone the folks in Watchet to see what the situation is up there.

 :pardon:

on the future radar sort of no......but I reckon if they dont die they could quite easily push more East...

as the Brest storms have...against what the future radar suggested
