Rather limited activity around these parts today which is unfortunate. One would think that the area with the largest CAPE would at least see the showers developing but thats not even happening here. I seek assurance in that the chance of thunder goes on into the night but otherwise today is becoming a bit disappointing so far.

Have a lovely view of that cell from here over N B'ham - dark, menacing clouds and some nice scudding going on beneath the cloud base.

Edit: Nasty sounding thunder here now.

yep, the forward edge of the anvil is overhead here, but the most active part of that cell (near Harborne) will drift up to my east, towards Great Barr & Brownhills, I think....Another cell has fired up near Tamworth, a nice view of the anvil from my back garden, and a potent looking cell is heading towards Telford, to my west, again nice view of the encroaching anvil from my front garden

...probably heading a bit further east actually, more towards Sutton Coldfield

We had a thunderstorm here today. Lasted around 30 minutes torrential rain and fork lightning. Loud thunder and a little flooding. :D

Woohoooo! Beautiful hailstorm! Absolutely beautiful! Lightning and banging thunder over my head and a godly downpour! I am heaven right now!

Distant rumble of thunder heard. Quite dull has began to rain!

right thats it, I'm jumping in the van and off to Lichfield (muckley corner) to catch this storm, should be there in about 10 mins

Started brightening up! Apparently there was lightning in Walsall Wood two miles away, hmmm missed me again maybe? Besides the rain there was nothing major!

A heavy shower came from nowhere this morning,followed by a pretty lively thundery shower with lightning to the SE died as it went that far north,followed by a less lively T shower but there was one loud crash to end.

Overall showers were not all that heavy though.

But it`s 4 years since there was thunder in september. :drinks:

All the action is west of me by about 20miles GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR..... Nice dark clouds to my west though, at least I can drool out my window +lick+lick

some thunderstorms heading NE out of manchester atm and lighting has been detected in NW England , heading NNE towards the Scottish Borders and possibly the Central Belt
