That storm that originated over Milton Keynes this afternoon is still going and crossing mid Wales. Does not appear to be electrified now, and may not survive the mountains, but if it does will pass close to here in about one hours time, so could see some flashes as it will be getting dark by then.

The fuzzy anvil also visible through the haze to the ESE, I have turned my webcam around to view that direction just in case.

I was looking at that line over Belgium too, will the cold sea not kill it as it crosses over from the Continent though?

If the summer brings us these kind of conditions! unlike last year.

All you can do is just hope that these storms can get themselves over the channel.

Just to clear up a bit of confusion that seems to be around.

As per the suggestion of the convective forecasts, it seems that storms moving over from france are not routed in the boundary layer. They are elevated storms and the channel should have little or no effect on their development. They are developing in a plume of modest theta E values, assisted by marginal shear. MCS propagation vectors indicate that the storms would also be backbuilding, I don't know how relevent this is today given that the area moving into the SE probably isn't an MCS. They will continue to effect southern parts through this evening and tonight. Whether atmospheric conditions continue to support their development remains to be seen as it is unclear how conducive conditions are further inland. If conditions inland are less favourable then showers will be the only concern.

Hope that helps. :)

:drinks: rather unexpected but an impressive cell just came ashore. Two overhead cracks of thunder (real houseshakers) and plenty of more distant rumbles. Two amazing forks prior to the overhead thunder. Some heavy convective rainfall thrown in

Dont know if the feature giving thunder to sussex Atm is an MCS,its getting large enough, its very early to get that type of storm system as an import, that type of system is more common from june-september in the U.K.

seems to be weakening a little in the last half-hour...
