Just to give an idea of the size of the storm, It's still 60 miles away. You can see Emley moor TV mast to the right of the pic.

Good pic there mate. It's starting to get dark to my SW, so hopefully that line of showers won't weaken as they hit my area.

Just had a heavy shower here at work in Doncaster. Now moved NE. Didn't hear thunder but there are lots of trains..... Interesting on NW Radar, everything got electrified about 15 minutes ago. Type in DN4 and wind back to 12:55 no lightning, then move on to 13:00! - WOW!

I guess there is thunder out there, just too much noise when you work near a busy station.......sigh.

Had a nice rain storm pass over here about 30 mins ago. No thunder but plenty of rain and wind, with a bit of hail. Looked bigger after it had passed over.

Just getting back to blue sky now, which is good as observed a blocked gutter

We need more thunder though. The rain only looks like a shower. Pity because if this carried on for any length of time then we might get some localised flooding out of it.

I see rain today is showing a heavy band of rain heading in my direction. Does anyone know the chance that South Essex might get any storms today, electrified or other?

A couple of rumbles of thunder here so far today. One to the north east shortly after midday and another in the distance to the south west at 1245 b.s.t.

Nice display of mammatus on the back edge of the line of convection now departing Doncaster, heding NE. To the SW there are a lot of anvils and some lightning on the NW radar. The last lot didn't produce and thunder for me, I went outside for a look and listen but nothing.

Better hope for the next lot heading my way and maybe the line advancing NE will produce at home in Beverley when it gets there.

Theres quite a large cell heading this way. It looks like its just about to hit Scunny. I can see it in the distance to the south-west.

Disappointing in the end mate. The odd flash and a few rumbles of thunder, and about 10 mins of moderate rain.

Having a thunderstorm here at this very moment. The hail shower is absolutely fantastic. I love this weather :D

Had that one earlier very impressive ic/cg and deep rumbles of thunder.
