Looking at the PPN radar, unless this first front slows considerably it will be long gone from us before the second (cold) front catches and merges with it.

Ironically the cold front, out west still over Ireland, still shows signs of having more precip than the warm front which should have prepped up by now. This is a good thing as if things stand as they are the cold front will reintroduce more sub 850hpa heights with that added precip injestion into the occlusion and not only lower uppers as it does so, but anything that does fall from the sky will undoubtedly be of snow. As things stand the easterly airmass and higher dew points is 'winning' this round.

Ok i see my post has gone

Hope your Dad's okay. As much as we love snow it's not useful in emergencies.

It's raining here, very light stuff with occasional hailstones. Hasn't stopped for an hour but it definitely is not snow and we're not even seeing icicles as a plus!

It does and hopefully will pep up across the Irish Sea, but at the moment it's fairly narrowm may give us a short but sweet snow even on top of frozen rain

the positive thing out of this, is that temps and dp's are still below freezing here, particularly the dp..so looking at that cold front..its beginning to look really interesting for sure..as for how long it will take to get here? 3/5pm? temps should by then start sinking southwards
