Good point....looking at the radar, the moment of truth for us in the west midlands is not too far away....A band of much more intense PPN is approaching from the WNW....if this arrives as snow that we're good to go, if not and it's rain/sleet then I would imagine that that is the permanent change over with no going back

Id say the batch of precip is the rapidly developing area over the irish sea currently. Looks to be heading towards the midlands for later on

First few flakes in Nottingham now but just very light.

I've just started a timelapse looking out of my window onto London Road, it will be interesting to play it back later.

I will post it on here if it's good.

nothing here yet, but keep us updated please. I see light showers coming in towards us on the radar.

Stopped now, but it was the first snow blob that got here on the radar, and it looks like Oxford has an isolated radar blob also, before the main band of snow.

Have to go out for an hour now just locally.

Still Light-Moderate snow on and off here, mainly small grainy flakes, hopefully some heavier stuff soon.

About 1cm on pavements, more where the wind has blown it around.

Temp has been steady at 1.6C but in the last few minutes it started dropping. I would rather wait for the temperatures to drop further..

Modest snow falling steadily in Knowle, really blowing about in the wind. Everything gradually turning white.

The snow seems to be quite granular, which probably indicates the cold pool around us. We'll probably see the bigger wet flakes after dusk, once things start getting a bit more marginal.

Still good, snowy conditions here -- steady snow with small flakes. A fair covering everywhere now, and temp still -1.0 °C.

Anyone worried that the fronts aren't occluding fast enough and that warm sector is fast approaching ?

Scene in Telford, over 160 meters above sea level here but down in Wellington/Ironbridge just a few miles away its freezing rain and sleet.

-0.6c here at the moment.

Looking at the radar, does anyone else think this is beginning to stall??

Theres a piece of heavier precip over East Wales/West Shropshire and it hasnt moved much further east for a good half hour.

AJ, Phil n Warks? Any suggestions?

Is always a worry....but the general thinking is that the whole lot will start to stall while this cold air holds firm..that should allow the occlusion to happen...where it stalls is key. So far we're ok though..temperatures and dew points across the Midands seem to be holding fine for now.

Have I got that right?

Sounds right to me. I've got dew point of -6.7c and temp of 0.8c. Plenty cold enough for snow.
