Some impressive looking clouds on sat24 to the southwest of the UK out over the Atlantic. Quite a long line of sferics stretching from north Spain up to southern and western Ireland. Also a small cell that is steadily growing over Brittany.

Must be a good view looking west towards the Atlantic tonight if you're on the SW coast of Ireland!

Still looking for the thundery breakdown to the current hot spell and the emphasis is shirting around a bit as the GFS shuffles the deck:

Monday afternoon late may be the (selfish) time:

the s.w. and wales look to be at risk of thunder, although it may be the high that wins and cools it down a bit without any storms.

Lots of Thunderstorms to the southwest of the UK, Won't these decay once they come up against this high pressure over us though? Looks like light showers by the time they get to wales

I think they are suppose to weaken as the move further inland so by the time they get to us they should be light showers! If only they could last!

Monday looks like seeing sea breeze fronts/convergence zones setting up inland across England, which will possibly trigger heavy showers and thunderstorms. GFS shows CAPE concentrated where moisture converges along these zones - though it's difficult to ascertain exactly where the zones will set-up.

Tuesday also has a storm risk - though GFS points to the West Country and Wales being the most likely areas for convergence. Wednesday sees a shortwave trough eject east from the Atlantic across the UK - which could bring a more widespread risk of storms.

Indeed!

I highlighted this in the model discussion thread yesterday, but it got pushed to one side because lots of people were blinkered by the high pressure. Reluctant to post in that thread now. :(

Surprised there are not more reports about the line of storms hitting the SW at the moment.

Looks pretty impressive on radar.

That certainly is impressive, although probably only a select few will be benefiting. Anyone on here down that way able to report?

Around an inch of rain in the last 4 hours just off the far SW tip of Lands End, but parts of an area in NW France have

had well in excess of 100mm in the 4 hours!!

One is wishing the Cold Front was going quickly to swing up and across the S/SW overnight, however it has barely moved

for much of the day.

Am on the north coast near Padstow - cloud is building. May be a while before that lot on the radar moves our way. Will report any developments if they occur. Fingers crossed.

It's been a lovely day here, some high level cloud making inroads towards the border with Cornwall in the last hour or so- but no sign of thunder here, yet.

Is there anyone on the SW coast recording this? Would live to see some footage please :)

I don't know how far it will get to me before it starts diminishing, but sometimes in these situations, i can see the lightning out to sea from here.

Off down to the quay now for a few beers. Hope someone gets something in the SW.
