Could you not just leave work earlier on the Friday.

That is what will probably happen in our office IF it snows.

Yes that is certainly another sensible option - I can work from home if required so I was only talking from my own position

Hi Meggy

Sorry about late response, popped to Sainsbogs! Don't get me on a soapbox about cars and lights! Argh, and the murky grey coloured car drivers appear to be the worst offenders. Anyway regarding the weather, car thermometer reads -2c, still foggy!

CD

Hi CD

We keep missing each other. Just drove past Davy Down and it looked stunning, with the thick frost and the sun trying to peep through the mist over the river. Shame I was driving!

Hi Dexter

I am interested to know why you are so downbeat about the SE Compared to the rest of the country, how do you see this LP Behaving (eg how are you seeing this play out) it sounds like you might be expecting the LP To stall and fizzle out to the west, any reasons for this.

Not a gripe or a go at you just wanted to see what your thoughts were on where that LP Ultimately ends up as quite a few of us are expecting it to track fiirst SE And then Eastwards into Europe and hence sustaining the cold and bringing back the cold from the continent next week. I am getting the feeling we could be in for a possible easterly or North Easterly next week if things go to plan and this is what GP's thoughts might have been in that huuge rampede earlier in the Model Thread

Could be some streamers to come into the mix nest week too!!

Yellow Alert of Snow for London & South East England :

Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Oxfordshire, Southampton, West Berkshire, Bracknell Forest, Buckinghamshire, East Sussex, Greater London, Kent, Medway, Milton Keynes, Portsmouth, Reading, Slough, Surrey, West Sussex, Windsor and Maidenhead, Wokingham & Brighton and Hove

Valid from: 0300 on Fri 18 Jan 2013

Valid to: 2355 on Fri 18 Jan 2013

As the weather breaks down, an area of snow looks increasingly likely to spread from the southwest. Winds will strengthen and blizzard conditions are a possibility, especially over high ground. Accumulations of more than 10 cm of snow are possible in many parts, with the potential for some severe disruption, though currently there is a good deal of uncertainty about intensity of snow and how quickly it will turn to rain in the southwest.

Plenty of time for upgrades.

Not even mentioning the dreaded high ground words!

Possibly 15cm + in our region? The Midlands could be looking at 30 + I reckon.

END OF RAMP! :)

The early hours of Wednesday was beautiful and i'm sure many of you missed it. An Orange sky started to appear above Herne Bay, I was woken up by the sound of pebbles against my window. Looking outside I was greeted to an ever increasing whiteness across the landscape. Fast forward and the sky took on a bright orange/purple colour. With not a car to be heard just the eeery silence of a winter landscape, this is what I love about winter.

There is the night time snow against an orange/purple skylight or the daylight snow all beauty and white.

"as the weather breaks down" - that would imply a snow to rain event. Not happy with that!

Trust me it will be cold enough.

Uppers are around -7c and the dew is well below freezing.

But isn't that what were saying about Monday?
