Think the Met Office issue the area as Amber warning indicating that within the Amber Warning area there is a red warning

Think it also means that the Amber can become a red due to the severity of the weather and the Met office being more cautious and trying not to get caught out

It depends where the symbol on the map is which usually means which way the Red Warning will spread if it develops over a certain period.

Noticed it has been moved to the north now.

Thank you for the info. Well I will just be keeping an eye on forecasts and radar watching for the day.

Quite exciting isn't it!

Hmmm, while Suffolk is being hounded by the blob from the East, we have been ignoring the approach of the smear from the West. Will it get here or disintegrate en route?

Haven't had a chance to wade through models thread. How are the sensitive souls on there? Hope no one has upset them by asking any questions or suggesting they are wrong.

Well it's snowing on the western edge of Bucks for sure, hopefuly the smear will make it further east

Hmmmm, The smear might be moving East, but it's also raising the Temps - currently 1.1C here and slowly rising. If this keeps up we will be looking at light sleet!

Just watched the main BBC forecast and Look East on the website.....looking good for the whole of our region smile.png

Also just been out and about and all the gritters I saw had snow plough attachments fitted...a sign maybe??

Excellent NAE update which follows on from the 06Z NAE.

P.S Mark no chance of sleet, current temps across the region are around or below freezing, the dewpoints are -3C, upper temps -8C.

Light snow knocking on my door at the moment, earlier than I expected.

TEITS.....how do you see things panning out mid to long term....I know hard to forecast, but are you along the line of thinking that the freezer door has been well and truly shut??

Light snow in Felixstowe and the sky is getting darker!!

It's still heading towards Colchester but it's really taking its time. I was kind of expecting snow before dusk, looks unlikely now. Possibly for the best as we peaked at 2oC here a while ago and dew points were in the plus numbers too.

Now please don't hold me to this, but it is now snowing in Lowestoft, and if that huge dark blobby thing in the North Sea that's visible on Raintoday keeps on coming this way we could end up with some real snow.

As opposed to the fake stuff? :D

The smear is intensifying, presumably as it works its merry way into the colder air. Is this a possible precursor for tomorrow's battleground fun and games?

Glad about that TEITS the light snow to our West looks like it's developing too!

That snow out to our west is slowly heading this way? could this give a surprise covering?

Its heading this way and snowfall is likely particularly for the west of the region, a cover is a small possibility I'd say . Band appears to be intensifying at the moment, so one to watch, although the snow will only be very light (unless the intensification really keeps up), as is being reported in the east mids thread at the moment.
