Fascinating drive home to Bangor from Belfast there - the road down was like a Winter Wonderland with a blizzard thrown in - snow blowing about all over the place, but as I arrived in Bangor, the snow cover got less and less until I got home and there is none here at all! Hopefully there will be some settling now it's dark and it looks like a heavier burst is about to hit us on the coast

Snowjon

Where r u? Bangor or the Dee? According to weather D/P is -1 so can't understand snow not settling.

What about tomorrow morning/afternoon?

1 or 2c in the north and east. Could be a partial thaw in northern areas with lying snow. And then freezing over tomorrow night. Not as cold tonight because of the cloud cover - with snow continuing in the north east for a good part of the night before pulling back westward and dieing out tomorrow afternoon.- that's how I read it anyway. A few coastal snow showers on wind ward coasts though.

I have just checked outside and the snow is just starting to settle now good.gif

Can confirm snowjons thoughts on snow starting to settle in Bangor, I'm right at the coast and rooftops, cars, bins etc starting to get covered. Heavy blowing snow continuing and doesn't look like an end to it yet.

PS, The whiskey is a gogo.

Some good music to soothe the mind.

Serious white here and more to come, have been clearing the road and lane for obvious reasons - I may as well be using a bucket and spade as there is that much.

I am praying that the electric does not go out!

Ooops, forgot to mention. Was down in the casino for a couple of hours and the electric was flicking off and on.

By the way, I forgot to say earlier, I'm going to try and make an All Ireland weather meetup for us all, for some good craic and discussion, how many of you would be interested?

Nice day in Cork, little wind, blue skies and crisp air. It's no snow, but could be worse!

Before I go here for my night of snooker and money games, if anyone has any ideas for locations, or other for the meetup, send me a pm. Would like everyone involved and we'll make a day/night of it.

The Ponderosa Bar on top of the Glenshane!! Great spot! Lol! Really disappointed with the snow in Derry! Crap is all I can say! Not happy at all!

Passed it quite a bit when travelling up through Dungiven, I often wondered who went to it as it strikes me as being in the middle of nowhere. Never ventured into it though.

Was in it years ago! Not a bad wee spot!

Please somebody tell me that the snow band is gonna move North West! This is so frustrating!

The Cairnshill Road turn off into Four Winds.

Cars abandoned on either side of the hill causing trouble for other drivers causing a six mile tail back into Belfast.

Are your lights flicking on and off.?

it snowed here between half 3 to about half 4 which gave a temporary light dusting on the grass, the temp at that time getting down to 0.8c. Temp on the rise since then now at 2.3c the highest so far today ,now just some light rain falling. With the main band moving north i am now in less cold air for the time being anyway. If the front moves back again later tonight or in the morning im sure i would see some snow. My main hope is now resting on sunday night which atm still has much potential. Hopefully today was just a curtain raiser for the following few days.

sorry Pomeroysnow to hear about your father im sure it must be a difficult time, glad you got your snow.
