Nice one Steve, my favourite chart of all time! A foot of snow was produced on that day over most of the South East and London.

I'm in Woolwich but my kids go to school in grove park. I'm worried about sending them off at 7. Would hate for them to get stuck out in the cold. What time will we know if this is going to be lots or just a little bit? ( I know it's hard to tell but roughly :-) )

I think you are forecast for a bit more than we are here. I would wait a bit in morning and check School website or call them first.

Good Luck. x

This part of Kent (far SE for those on mobiles) always gets decent streamer action out of a ENE'ly or NE'ly. It was this direction that gave us along a coastal strip from Deal down towards Hastings(?) in February 2010...a foot of snow from light to moderate snow in 20 hours!

Yep, at least a NE'erly does around heresmile.png

Also to give you an idea of how dry the air that will be advected into the South tomorrow, take a look at Le Touquet on XC, -7c Dewpoint, Le Havre also down at -6c. This super dry air will be making itself felt along the south coast early tomorrow morning as the front moves in which should give you coasties a great shot!

Yep some crazy cold dp's....

Bizarre that they are cancelling trains in the SE for tomorrow morning, even before the real heavy snow's arrived!

I think my temperature sensor has gone wrong..

I've just seen a 2c rise in about 10 minutes, I've sat here watching it change. It's dropped 0.2c of a degree since I started writing this!

Steve...

Is it me or does the main band look to be travelling fast? I take it that it will actually stall and slow? Once it passes Midlands a slight shunt SE?

There are indications that the government may stage their Cobra alert and will put the army on standby if they are required help.gifpost-2721-0-84907000-1358466136_thumb.pn

Q:

I asked this on the model thread, but no replies and its troubling me again:

Why is it that all the mod charts are in foreign? They seem to be in either french or german, even the one thats called UKMO (UK met Office, no?)

so how come is that? Is it just coz we dont have UK websites that publish the data?

Probably... Netweather does most of them in English though I think!

Might be right Dan

Mine has gone as follows

8pm -3c

9pm -2c

10pm - 0c

11pm - 1c

What has stayed constant is the dewpoint currently on its way back down again, has been as low as -7.6c earlier, then rose to -4.4c but back heading south again now at -5.7c

Netweather publishes all the main model charts in English, with a comprehensive range in extra found no where else.
