Snow ploughs are working today. Road is clear 15 mins ago

5 miles down the goyt its nothing but light rain, just goes to show how marginal (so far) conditions are. Another 3 hours with nocturnal temps starting to kick in i'd expect a gradual transition to sleet and snow as the front stalls and begins to drag the lower uppers down from the East.

The radar just looks like a typical drizzlefest day setting up stall. Unless something kicks into life later on, there isn't going to be much in the way of wintry stuff. Time to do better things with my sunday afternoon, I'll probably check in later to see if there's been an upturn.

Grrrrr at Boston and their 3ft! lol

Still got falling, sorry horizontal snow here at the moment but, like others have already said it's not looking good for later unless the precipitation does a serious amount of pepping up.

Just very light patch rain here so far, dewpoints are still too high for snow below say 350m. We really need some heavy precipitation to aid evaporative cooling which would send temperatures at the surface layer to much conducive levels for low level snow. Alas looking at the radar and the predicted path of the front I just can't see anything other than a few moderate outbreaks as we move through the latter part of the afternoon.

It looks like a midlands and southern england event this evening and overnight but I'm not expecting great totals - perhaps a couple of inches in favoured spots with some height. Once again the BBC two/three days ago hedge their bets very early in the game and perhaps should have taken a precautionary approach - current set ups always come down to nowcasting.

It is turning into a thoroughly miserable weekend weatherwise - one when you long for spring, I'd rather see rain and temps in double figures than rain when it is 3-4 degrees...

My phone app even at this short range is going for heavy snow from 5 till 1 am at the moment and 90%. Something like this happened here a few weeks ago it rained all day then all of a sudden heavy snow, still staying positive for now but it doesn't look good.

As expected and as with the rest of this dismal winter cold rain. Looking forward to the next forecast snow event falling as rain on Wednesday.

Bring on the Spring.
