If you are into astronomy this is the place to be. Beautiful clear sky, and relatively mild. So why is the blasted radar telling me it is snowing here. Calm down Gary, pour yourself a stiff drink.

For the very same reason as it's doing it for here: F%$* K*^%s!

Snow beginning to settle on the pavements now, though rather slushy, still moderate snow falling, and some heavier pulses to the south pushing this way

Temp 0.7c/DP -1.2c

SK

Similar conditions here, dew point not quite as low. I could do with heavier PPN though.

I've always wondered this: why are the called the Downs? Wouldn't the 'Ups' make more sense?

They were made by debrie being dropped by the melting ice in the ice age.

What's probably the more important the dew points dropping or temps dropping? bearing in mind 1c and dp +0.5c Cheers!

Hi reef seeker hope you don't mind me asking how much has the dew point risen in Surbiton. Just down the road in chessington the rain turns very sleety with big wet flakes in the heavier bursts. Still a few falling at the moment

Snow full ön here now..anyone writing off rest of feb should perhaps check tonights ECM,run just rolled out,a very good run...and good cold pooling over continent, with a very good modeled east then north east flow....

We shall see. I've certainly not written off February, merely saying that although it'll likely be a cold month, the opportunities for deep cold (giving us a long lasting snow cover) will become limited.

Pretty impressive dew point SK considering I can hit your bedroom window with a stone.

I was wondering what that noise was...

Yes I think it must be downdraft driven, as the intensity of the snow here has been pretty good for the last hour or so

Hammer - good to hear as I have a commercial forecasting client in Sawbridgeworth! Forecast is going according the plan thankfully.

SK

All surfaces are white, settling properly on roads and pavements.

Did anyone know how they were made before they were named, though?

I find it quite funny that a couple of the usual doubters and moaners are reporting rain and mild conditions whilst elsewhere across the region its snowing !!

better luck next time so close yet so far

Off to Aviemore this time next week; hoping the white stuff will be a bit more guaranteed up there!
