See the next chart, sustained cyclonic as well, non of this light shower from the east or wishboning, a sustained dumping with no marginality involved.

Diane just said that us in the region should be thankful for The Pennines.

Throughout my life I've been constantly told that I should be thankful of this, that and the other but The Pennines, that's a new one on me.

I wish they get rid of the tripe that passes off as local BBC NW weather presenters and get people with some knowledge.

Been snow granules falling out the sky all day here in the Peaks, tiny tiny grains which melt on impact with anything but it shows that this part of the world is now above the freezing level at least, still some remnants left of the snows which fell last week ago across the higher tops.

I know it is in FI but just wondered what the liklihood of it happening would be. Thanks.

to be honest nobody really knows but it's becoming a regular theme for more cold it would seem.

Probably unlikely, certainly to that extreme anyway, from this regions point of view i might be less inclined than people in the MOD thread are to wish the pattern East, it may be good that the - NAO has been modelled west based to start off with as when it comes into the reliable it may be just right, we all remember many times in the 90s when such setups ended of much further East than originally progged by countryfile and ended up topplers with wishbone the best on offer and sometimes half-wishbone setups!!!

OP starting to get backed up by the mean.

I just hope it does'nt end up an East coast few light showers toppler setup but have always maintained there is just as much chance of that as it being too West based.

Well I thought that it was definitely over full stop a few days ago so for my sanity it's probably best if I try I stick with that mindset rather be let down for the umpteenth time!

Your probably right, nothing seems to tally up putting the MO forecast and all the models together and seems anything possible, for now though i think we should go with Ian F's posts (just), we will only have to wait a couple of days and we should know more, monday and we will be clearer.

EDIT : It is an excellent mean chart though so i really think some weighting should be given.

0c yet -5 dewpoint - is that because the air is so dry? Must admit haven't had any frosts past few nights but it's been cloudier yet temp has fallen below zero.

Yes, bigger the difference, the dryer the air, i think, you have had airfrosts but with dryer air, you dont see it on the ground.

Some of the other white stuff possible tommorow.
