North Dorset have had a lot of snow by all accounts?

A lot of rain here, another 15.2mm. 50mm since Friday, that puts March rainfall above average, currently 70mm on the nose. 285mm for 2013. It has turned out to be a very wet start to this year.

Found it! Thanks again.

We had about 2cm here, but it's all gone now. I think that the Shaftesbury area got a bigger hit than us, we were right on the edge of the system after about 08.00. Sun's shining now and it's a different day out there.

50% rain 50% snow here and folk coming down the road with a covering on the car roof so must be on the boundary.

Temp 6 deg, bizarre as it's not exactly intense on the evap cooling side of things.

100% snow now but pretty wet so no settling but nice to see. Good to see potential cold ahead if a snow fan although remains to be seen if us in the far south will be in the mix but with days like today never say never.

In contrast to the snow, in Bristol its feeling rather pleasent in some warm spring sunshine.

Looks like spring is going to remain elusive for the week ahead still. The Met Office forecast for tomorrow;

"Another day of sunshine and scattered showers across the region. The showers again wintry in places and occasionally heavy with a risk of thunder and hail. Feeling cold. Maximum temperature 9 °C."

And midweek;

"Staying unsettled and cold with scattered showers, some wintry especially over the hills. The showers becoming more isolated Wednesday, before further rain and hill snow gradually spreads in on Thursday."

suggests remaining cooler than average with the chance of wintry precipitation on higher ground of the region, along with showers or longer spells of rain to lower levels.

Work wise I will be delighted with several days of sunshine and scattered showers! Just hope they begin to develop from mid morning meaning

a fine chance of remaining dry all morning, rather than them being already present from dawn - just depends on any troughs and the wind

direction forming any streamers overnight from either the Bristol Channel or South coast!

Had a slight dusting of snow this morning when I left for work which was pleasant to see although nothing as I drove into work.

Could still see snow this week though looking at forecast air_kiss.gifgood.gif

It's looking rather cloudy but dry, with a few brighter spells here and there tomorrow;

post-12721-0-56907400-1363534637_thumb.j

with the exception of Cornwall and South Devon where a few, mainly light showers will form;

post-12721-0-02765700-1363534708_thumb.j

These could be wintry over higher ground, such as Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor;

Quite cool sitting working and looking out the window and now noticing the clouds are moving the complete opposite direction to what they were this morning, low has obviously passed now so winds are coming from a NW'erly direction.

Who's going to start chasing another SW modelled blizzard then?

At least it will keep Mullender in this thread for another week if nothing else! :p :p

Yes heavy snow into the south west on that chart, as Steve m says in the model thread, they're stunning charts for late March!

I do like the unexpected and I for one still want winter to go out with a bang! So why not , I shall be watching the charts for some snow for a little while yet.

I give that UKMO chart < 1% of verification, if anything i can see it being extremely wet down south as we head towards next weekend.

But it's the fact that there is even the faintest possibility of it verifying that makes all this so interesting! I personally would be very bored if everything was 100% certain!

It's not about certaintly, i'm saying that you may as well chase dragons rather than that chart.

All i can say is, expect rain.
