Started raining here in Bexleyheath.  Really, really hoping for a few flashes and rumbles as the evening goes on.  Am so jealous of those down south just starting to hear the rumbles as the storm crosses the channel.  Fingers crossed it doesn't die a death!

EDIT: Nope, http://www.meteox.co.uk/h.aspx?r=&jaar=-3&soort=loop1uur&lightning=1, phew - I thought I'd over ramped. It's incoming for Kent, and E Sussex folks - you'll note the lightning making it all the way up in the plume zone (50degC theta-e)

 

The channel is still trying to stop it, though .... but it shouldn't succeed. Just a touch of luck is all that's required ....

Been looking at this, it looks ATM that, at least the lightning, is mostly now going off the NE and more along the channel.  Possibly Kent getting the northerly edge?

Just started to rain in Streatham (SW16) think we had a rumble of thunder and a flash of lightning but frankly it could have just been a train shorting.

Plenty of lound thunder being heard in Worthing, W.Sussex now, but no visible lightning as yet.

Hi all, last night in UK for a fortnight and it could be a lively one.  Got as high as 29.2c here in Reigate and is now 20.7c with 82% humidity and the rain has just started. Only light rain at the moment but it's pretty dark and the air feels extraordinarily heavy, with a soporific density to it, full of potential.  Will the potential deliver?  As long as it doesn't mess with our flight early tomorrow, please carry on!

 

No internet abroad (actually that's quite a sweeping statement, I mean there is no internet in the house we have rented!) so in the absence of a wifi connection it's Kale Nichta from me for 2 weeks. Have fun, keep safe and I look forward to catching up on my return

Very humid and still for my walk; light rain started for final 10 minutes. Just the parakeets squawking to fill what felt like a very close atmosphere.

Still foggy here in Winterton on Sea but warm enough to be sat outside the Fishermans Return - its not so bad I can still see my drink and its Steve C's round next !
